HIGH POINT MARKET TRENDS

Fresh Looks for2022 Manufacturers pull out all the stops with new fabrics, materials and colors BY LINDSEY PUTZIER

High Point Market is back! After a two-year hiatus, I had the opportunity to travel to High Point Market this October and was pleasantly surprised with how many new, beautiful products the manufacturers displayed. Although markets had been closed, the manufacturers’ creative departments were still working diligently to bring designers fresh looks for 2022 and beyond. Here are six High Point Market trends that will likely translate to the window treatment world in the upcoming months.

Shearling Fabrics Shearling fabrics were everywhere! I saw shearling mostly on chairs and sofas, but shearling is quite versatile. Why not create a valance or cornice out of shearling for some interest in an otherwise neutral space? The depth and texture of shearling adds a wonderful new dimension to top treatments. A strip of shearling could also be added as a leading-edge trim for some contrast along with some cording for a truly custom feel. Shearling would also be a great choice for coordinating window seat cushions and throw pillows.

Green, Pink & Golden Yellow The most popular colors at this market were not blue and gray. Instead, greens, pinks and golden yellows took over. Green was prominent throughout large furniture pieces, whereas pinks and yellows were mostly secondary accent colors. These colors combine well with the grays and blues we’ve been seeing for the past decade. Green, pink and golden yellow are effective colors to use when transitioning to a warmer palette. Incorporate these colors into soft window treatments using vibrant fabrics and trims. Colorful banding can also be added to otherwise neutral woven shades and wood blinds for a fun accent.
