EPTA Finals for Ruby Congratulations to Year 10 pianist Ruby Cheung who reached the finals in the Under 15 category of the prestigious 2019 EPTA Competition. The National Finals were held at the start of April in the David Josefowitz Recital Hall at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The esteemed adjudicators were Philip Fowke, vice-president of EPTA UK, Julian Jacobson, the chair of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe and Anthony Williams, concert pianist, writer, lecturer, ABRSM examiner and moderator and festival adjudicator Well done also to Year 8 pianist Bibi Redford who reached the semi-finals and came second in her category.

Yamaha Piano Competition

Nina at Spring Music Festival

Congratulations to Upper Sixth pianist Lulwa Al Shamlan, who reached the finals of the prestigious Yamaha Piano Competition 2019. 27 schools entered the competition and only six finalists were selected.

Upper Sixth pianist Nina Savicevic Leonard gave a piano recital at the Sidholme Music Room, Sidmouth in May. Nina’s recital, part of the Sidholme Spring Music Festival, included works by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin.

Hong Kong Easter Tour A talented string quartet and their pianist spent five days in Hong Kong over the Easter break on a music tour of the city. Violinists Caitlin Marshall and Yik Liang Soo, violist Howard Chiu and cellist Gerard Flotats-Boix were joined by pianist Sejin Yoon to perform at a concert at City Hall, at a dinner for the Wells Music Society of Hong Kong, and for a visit to Wah Yan College in Kowloon.
