Engineering firm spreads its wings Kelly Deeks After 12 years in business, one of Whangarei’s most successful engineering firms, NT Engineering, has opened a second workshop in Waipapa bringing its fast and reliable manufacturing, maintenance, and repair services to a wider Northland customer base. NT Engineering was established in 2004 by Neal Turner, as a small engineering firm catering to precision and general engineering. Neal is an excellent problem solver when it comes to engineering projects, whether customising an existing machine, a one-of-a-kind build, or a precision machine component not running to its full potential, Neal and the team at NT Engineering can figure it out. Hagan Taylor purchased a half share in NT Engineering during 2008, and being a diesel mechanic word quickly spread that NT Engineering is a one-stop shop for all engineering and mechanical needs. The company now employs 15 staff in Whangarei and three at Waipapa, which is growing quickly and Neal and Hagan are already looking for a larger premises after six months in business. Opened in mid January, the Waipapa workshop is fully equipped and ready to handle all mechanical engineering, break downs, and design and build projects. NT Engineering has a great understanding of all things engineering from the light to the very heavy industrial work. “We understand when break downs happen, things need to be fixed fast, and we accommodate that with four on-site service utes, as well as after hours on-call staff to handle the demand,” Neal says.
