Walnut Creek Open Space remains open for hiking, walking, running, bicycling, dog walking, and equestrian use while practicing proper social distancing. Picnic areas are now open and picnics will be allowed in accordance with County regulations. Join Ranger Corri Frazier for an evening at Sugarloaf Open Space observing Barn Owls in and outside their nest box. See what life is like for these exceptional owls as they hunt and take care of their young. Program participants may even be lucky enough to see the young owls attempt to take their first flight. Join Ranger Jack on a night hike under a full moon! This guided hike will take place on the night of a full moon, out in our Walnut Creek Open Space, giving an incredible opportunity to observe this phenomenon away from major noise or light pollution. We will discuss phases of the moon, stars and constellations, and nocturnal animals and how they have adapted to thrive in the dark! Please RSVP with Ranger Jack at jromero@walnut-creek.org. Join us at Borges Ranch as we open the Historic Ranch House doors. Tour inside the historic Ranch House a get glimpse of what it was like to live on a ranch in the early 1900’s. A Ranger or docent will be on site to answer any questions you may have about the Borges family and their historic ranch. 1035 Castle Rock Rd Walnut Creek CA 94598.
