Continuing Education CULINARY 5501 FUNDAMENTALS OF CAKE DECORATING (Course I) Discover how easy and rewarding it is to decorate wonderful cakes and other desserts in this 8-hour course. You will learn all of the decorating techniques needed to create great looking cakes for birthdays or any occasion. Topics include the basics of making and coloring icing, preparing cakes, decorating techniques using appropriate tools (including the most popular border), and making a rose for a gorgeous floral cake. Supply list will be provided at first class session. Bring paper and pen for notes. Tuesdays, January 21, 28-February 4 and 11, 5:00pm-7:00pm Location: Bailey Center 12th Floor $35 5502 CAKE DECORATING - Flowers and Borders (Course II) Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Cake Decorating Build on your skills taught in Course I to master many dramatic techniques to make your cakes unforgettable. You will learn to make new borders, to give your cakes incredible dimension with the addition of bold color flow decorations, and to create lovely new flowers using Royal icing. For the grand finale, you will make an impressive flower basket cake using the interwoven basket weave technique. Supply list will be provided upon registration. BALLROOM DANCING This is a beginning level Ballroom Dance class for those who want to develop and/or improve their social dance skills. The instructor will provide instructions for steps, patterns and proper techniques, including ballroom dance floor etiquette. MUSIC 5512 INSTANT PIANO If you yearn to experience the joy of playing piano, but you don’t want years of weekly lessons, this short course is for you. In just one enjoyable evening, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to make piano playing a part of your life, learning chords, not notes. You’ll learn all the chords needed to play any song, any style any key. And you’ll get a healthy dose of insider secrets on how to embellish songs. YOGA Come join us for a time of stretching and strength building that is sure to leave you de-stressed and energized! This class is based on the yoga model that creates a class for all body types and flexibility levels. This class is for anyone interested in improving balance, strength and flexibility. 5513 INTRO TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY This course is for the beginner. Time will be spent exploring the camera body (bring instruction booklet). Subjects covered are ISO, aperture, shutter speeds, manual operation, composition, lighting, and image and creative dials.
