A FOOTED SATSUMA BOWL TOGETHER WITH A PAIR OF SATSUMA VASES

Heavily po!ed, exterior with gilt, blue, and red enamels, painted with an auspicious flora scene including chrysanthemums and pomegranates, minor firing flaws and scratches to the surface, few minor losses to enamel, with stand height 26.2" — 66.5 cm.

Very finely enameled, the cave!o with a figural palace scene, encircled by concentric banded designs of orange and gilt geometric motifs, and an intricate floral band with birds amongst lush peonies, chrysanthemums, prunus flowers and pine trees, beneath an orange and gilt brocade band at the rim. The exterior enameled with figural windows surrounded by floral roundels, marked ‘Kutani matsubara sei’ to base, chip to rim, some loss to gilt and enamel, overall in good condition, diameter 10.8" — 27.4 cm.

Small chipping to rims, a loss of 3 cm to one vase, major repair throughout to the bowl, tallest height 9.6" — 24.5 cm.
