3 OPUS ONE 2001 (1) Napa Valley u. bn. scraped label OPUS ONE 2003 (1) Napa Valley u. bn. scraped label It possesses a Bordeaux-like personality, as one might expect since Opus One is owned by Baroness Philippe de Rothschild and the winemaking team comes primarily from Pauillac. The significant tannin in the wine provides a slight austerity, but this is a fullbodied, rich effort that marks the beginning of a period when Opus One finally began to live up to the enormous potential first announced in the late 1970s by the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild and the late Robert Mondavi. Although accessible now, the 2003 will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring and should keep for two decades. June 2013 Drink: 20172037 WA 94 2 bts.

per lot $800 - $1,000

4 JOSEPH PHELPS INSIGNIA 2001 (2) Napa Valley u. 2 x vts. 1 x scraped capsule. SHAFER CABERNET SAUVIGNON HILLSIDE SELECT 2004 (1) Stags Leap District, Napa Valley Inky/purple-colored with notes of blueberry, blackberry, cassis, spring flowers, and a touch of toast, the wine is opulent, voluptuous and full-bodied with sweet tannin, just enough acidity to provide freshness, vibrancy and delineation, and a spectacular finish that goes on 40+ seconds. This is a killer, a showy and flamboyant style of Hillside Select that’s already drinking beautifully and should continue to do so for another 15-20 years. December 2014 Drink: 2015-2034 WA 99 3 bts.

per lot $1,000 - $1,200

5 OUTPOST CABERNET SAUVIGNON HOWELL MOUNTAIN 2009 (1) Napa Valley COLGIN CELLARS PROPRIETARY RED IX ESTATE 2005 (1) Napa Valley u. bn. scraped label. The 2005 Proprietary Red IX Estate, from one of the most strikingly beautiful vineyards in all of Napa, high on Pritchard Hill overlooking Lake Hennessey, is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Inky purple with a provocative and profound bouquet of graphite, white flowers, cassis and blackberry as well as hints of coffee and chocolate, this full-bodied classic has perfect balance, undeniable purity and a long finish. Drink: 20152035 WS 96 WA 98 2 bts.

per lot $600 - $800

6 MAYBACH FAMILY VINEYARDS CABERNET SAUVIGNON MATERIUM 2010 Napa Valley u. 4 x bn. 2 x scraped labels The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium from the Weitz Vineyard reveals lots of minerality along with sweet red and black currants, licorice, graphite and spring flowers. Deep and full-bodied, it is displaying a lot of tannin in addition to a reserved, backward, brooding style. Everything is there for super enjoyment and high quality, but patience is required. October 2013 WA 95+ 4 hf. bts. per lot $700 - $900

7 OUTPOST CABERNET SAUVIGNON TRUE VINEYARD HOWELL MOUNTAIN 2009 Napa Valley The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard is a much more opulent wine that in many ways is less typical of Howell Mountain. It is an especially seamless Cabernet Sauvignon loaded with dark fruit, flowers and mint, all of which are supported by insistent veins of minerality. All of the flavors build effortlessly to the muscular, inviting finish. December 2011 WA 95 3 bts.

per lot $500 - $700

8 NO GIRLS GRENACHE LA PACIENCIA VINEYARD 2008 (1) Walla Walla Valley u. 1 cm. scraped label. QUILCEDA CREEK CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2001 (1) Columbia Valley, Washington It offers a rock star bouquet of blackberry liqueur, cassis, dried licorice, spice and roasted meats to go with a full-bodied, concentrated, yet incredibly polished and elegantly textured mouthfeel. Blockbuster stuff that has everything, it is still youthful and vibrant and has another decade or more of longevity, although I see no reason to delay gratification. Drink now-2023. June 2013 WA 97 2 bts.

per lot $300 - $500

11 BODEGAS TORO ALBALÁ DON PX CONVENTO SELECCIÓN 1946 (OWC) Montilla-Moriles, Spain Plus sampler. The 1946 Don PX Convento Seleccion produced with Pedro Ximenez grapes dehydrated under the sun at the time of the Second World War, was only bottled in September 2011. This is an extreme wine, my first descriptor was ultra-mega-super concentrated. It is unbelievably powerful, both in the nose and the palate, full of umami, with sweet cinnamon, Christmas cake, camphor, petrol, lemongrass, Belgian chocolate and butter. Incredibly complex and rich, sweet, balanced and smooth in the palate, it is both very sweet and somehow salty, and with time it develops a black olive note. It combines the texture of the 1962 and the elegance of the 1949. It is as decadent as it gets. 825 bottles were produced. This wine will survive all of us. These wines are kept for generations and offered in very small quantities, but it’s amazing that you can still buy and drink something so old, and I’m even tempted to say that it might represent good value for what it is. A real tour de force sweet wine. Drink it if you ever have the privilege to do so from 2013-2060. August 2013. Bottle # 480 of 825 WA 100 1 bt.

per lot $300 - $500

19 CHÂTEAU PÉTRUS 1989 Pomerol u. bn. wrinkled label. This wine is more tightly knit, more tannic, but every bit the blockbuster concentrated effort that its younger sibling, the 1990, is. It seems to need more coaxing from the glass, but the color is virtually identical, a dense ruby/purple with no lightening at the edge. In the mouth the wine cuts a broad swath, with spectacular intensity, richness, massive concentration, and high levels of tannin, yet the wine is fabulously well-delineated and like its sibling, the 1990, has a finish that goes on for nearly a minute. It does not seem to be quite as evolved as the 1990, and my instincts suggest there is a bit more tannin, but both are as prodigious as Petrus can be. Anticipated maturity: 20102040. December 2002 WA 100 1 bt.

per lot $4,000 - $5,000

20 CHÂTEAU LATOUR 1990 (1) Pauillac u. bn. stained label. scuffed capsule. WS 100 WA 95+ CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD 1982 (1) Pauillac u. vts. soiled & scuffed label. scraped capsule. 2 bts.

per lot $1,000 - $1,200

22 CHÂTEAU DUCRU-BEAUCAILLOU 2005 (1) Saint-Julien scraped label. The 2005 Ducru Beaucaillou is a 10,000-case blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot (they used to produce 18,000-20,000 cases). It is an exceptionally powerful wine with a dense purple color, superb intensity, and a beautiful, sweet nose of spring flowers, raspberries, blueberries, graphite, and creme de cassis. Full-bodied with fabulous concentration, exceptionally high tannin, good acidity, and massive layers of richness that build incrementally on the palate, this monumental effort is more structured than their outstanding 2003. It may be the finest wine produced at this estate since the 1982 and 1961 Ducrus. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2050. April 2008 WS 96 WA 97 CHÂTEAU PICHON LONGUEVILLE COMTESSE DE LALANDE 2005 (1) Pauillac 2 bts.

per lot $400 - $600

31 CHÂTEAU PICHON-LONGUEVILLE BARON 2000 Pauillac u. 3 x vts. The 2000 Château Pichon Baron is just getting better and better and better. This is a millennial Left Bank with the keys to the top drawer. It has an incredibly precise, mineraldriven bouquet with intense black fruit infused with cedar and graphite scents. It just reeks of Pauillac in an almost uncompromising, yet compelling manner. The palate is structured, stylish and effortless, extraordinarily pure and unerringly youthful. This is a Pichon Baron saying, “You ain’t seen nothing yet.” You could broach this now if you wanted, but the clever people will wisely bunker this for another decade and gloat from 2025 onward. Tasted January 2016. Drink: 2025-2050 WA 97 3 bts.

per lot $800 - $1,000

32 CHÂTEAU PONTET-CANET 2000 Pauillac u. 1 x bn. 1 x scuffed label. 3 bts.

per lot $400 - $600

33 CHÂTEAU LE GAY 2010 Pomerol u. 2 x bn. The 2010 Le Gay is performing sensationally, even better than my wildly enthusiastic tasting notes from barrel might have predicted. Inky opaque purple, and presenting a formidable and foreboding nose of camphor, black truffles, graphite, blueberries and blackberries as well as hints of smoked meats and floral nuances. Just about everything seems to be present in this smorgasbord of aromatics delights. The wine hits the palate with power, richness and purity, full-bodied texture, and enormous intensity. The final blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. This wine needs at least 8-10 years of cellaring, based on its masculinity and structure, and should easily eclipse 20-40 years in a good cellar. February 2013 Drink: 2021-2061 Approximately 1,500 cases produced per vintage. WA 99 3 bts.

per lot $600 - $800

34 CHÂTEAU PAPE CLEMENT 2005 Pessac-Léognan u. 3 x bn. A blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, Pape Clement’s 2005 has an opaque purple color and smoky barbecue and chocolaty notes intermixed with cassis and blackberries. There is also some underlying minerality in this full-bodied, superconcentrated wine, which has wonderfully sweet, well-integrated tannins. This majestic, multidimensional wines is one of the great, great wines of the vintage. It should drink well for at least another 25 years. June 2015 Drink: 2015-2040 WS 96 WA 99 3 bts.

per lot $800 - $1,000

35 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER 2004 Pessac-Léognan u. 3 x bn. 3 bts.

per lot $300 - $500

36 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 2002 Margaux 2 x scraped labels. Performing better from bottle than at any time in cask (which of course is the objective of great winemaking, isn’t it?), this wine reveals a dense ruby/purple color in a style somewhat reminiscent of the 1988 but with more power, concentration, and volume. It has a beautifully elegant nose of black fruits intermixed with truffle, flower, and oak. The wine is medium to full-bodied, dense, with wonderful precision, freshness, and a long, full-bodied finish with impressive levels of concentration. April 2005 WA 93 2 bts.

per lot $1,000 - $1,200

37 ALTER EGO DE PALMER 2000 (2) Margaux u. 2 x bn. 2 x scuffed labels. CHÂTEAU BRANE-CANTENAC 1998 (1) Margaux u. bn. scraped label. CHÂTEAU PALMER 2000 (1) Margaux u. bn. WA 94 4 bts.

per lot $800 - $1,000

38 CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD 1998 Pauillac u. 2 x bn. A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, this wine represents only 34% of Lafite’s total harvest. In a less than perfect Medoc vintage, it has been spectacular since birth, putting on more weight and flesh over the last year. This opaque purple-colored 1998 is close to perfection. The spectacular nose of lead pencil, smoky, mineral, and black currant fruit soars majestically from the glass. The wine is elegant yet profoundly rich, revealing the essence of Lafite’s character. The tannin is sweet, and the wine is spectacularly layered yet never heavy. The finish is sweet, superrich, yet impeccably balanced and long (50+ seconds). Anticipated maturity: 2007-2035. April 2001 WS 95 WA 98 2 bts.

per lot $2,000 - $2,200

39 CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD 2001 Pauillac u. 1 x bn. 1 x scuffed label. WA 94 2 bts.

per lot $1,800 - $2,000

40 CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD 2002 Pauillac 2 x scuffed labels. A brilliant offering and a candidate for wine of the vintage, this is classic Lafite that reminded me somewhat of the 1976, although the vintage conditions were completely different. This is a medium-weight, quintessentially elegant style of Lafite with notes of lead pencil shavings/ graphite along with black currants, plums, and crushed rocks/mineral. Wonderfully pure, dense, with a deep ruby/purple color and loads of fruit, definition, and a long finish, this is a brilliant, elegant Lafite Rothschild that builds incrementally in the mouth and has more power and density than it initially seems. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025. April 2005 WA 94 2 bts.

per lot $1,600 - $1,800

41 CHÂTEAU LATOUR 1998 Pauillac u. 2 x bn. 1 x vts. 3 x scraped labels. 1 x scraped capsule. 3 bts.

per lot $1,800 - $2,000

42 CHÂTEAU LATOUR 2001 Pauillac u. 2 x bn. 2 x scraped labels. A brilliant offering, which should be drinkable much earlier than the blockbuster 2000, the 2001 Latour boasts an inky/ruby/purple color to the rim as well as a glorious bouquet of black currants, crushed stones, vanilla, and hints of truffles and oak. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance primarily Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it reveals a sweetness on the palate that is atypical for such a young Latour. The beautiful integration of tannin, acidity, and wood is stunning. The wine flows across the palate with fabulous texture, purity, and presence. This luscious, full-bodied Latour was surprisingly open-knit on the three occasions I tasted it from bottle. However, do not mistake its aging ability as this 2001, despite its precociousness, will last 20-25 years. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2025. June 2004 WS 95 WA 95 2 bts.

per lot $1,200 - $1,400

43 CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD 1995 (1) Pauillac u. bn. scraped label. Bottled in June 1997, this profound Mouton is more accessible than the more muscular 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Merlot, it reveals an opaque purple color, and reluctant aromas of cassis, truffles, coffee, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine is “great stuff,” with superb density, a full-bodied personality, rich mid-palate, and a layered, profound finish that lasts for 40+ seconds. There is outstanding purity and high tannin, but my instincts suggest this wine is lower in acidity and slightly fleshier than the brawnier, bigger 1996. Both are great efforts from Mouton-Rothschild. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2030. February 1998 WS 96 WA 95 CHÂTEAU PICHON LONGUEVILLE COMTESSE DE LALANDE 2004 (3) Pauillac u. 3 x bn. 3 x scraped labels. 4 bts.

DELAS FRÈRES CÔTE-RÔTIE LA LANDONNE 2006 (2) Rhône The 2006 Cote Rotie la Landonne is a head turner that has more depth and density than most in this charming vintage. Cured meats, toasted spices, licorice and black currant aromas and flavors all emerge from this fullbodied, concentrated Cote Rotie that has decadent amounts of fruit and plenty of sweet tannin. I’d happily drink bottles anytime over the coming 15+ years. February 2017 WA 96 8 bts.

This gorgeous Barolo reveals a deeply structured frame layered with sweet dark fruit, mint, spice and pine. At once delicate and powerful, it is a beautifully finessed wine that is sure to provide much pleasure. A recent bottle of the 1982 is a testament to the virtues of this great site as interpreted by Bruno Giacosa. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. December 2007 WA 96 3 bts.

75 BRUNO GIACOSA BARBARESCO ASILI 2005 Piedmont 1 x scuffed label. Giacosa’s 2005 Barbaresco Asili is noticeably rounder, sweeter and denser than the Santo Stefano. It shows remarkable balance and harmony in an incredibly pure, graceful style. The tannins are so finessed and elegant it is hard to actually perceive them on the palate. Here too, the wine shows awesome inner balance and poise. Sweet raspberries, flowers, roses and spices are just some of the nuances that emerge from this incredibly delicious, promising Barbaresco. Why can’t all the Bertani wines be this good? The 2004 is a superb, elegant Amarone graced with expressive dark red fruit, flowers, tobacco and spices, all supported by finessed, silky tannins. Sweet roses, tar and licorice are woven into the layered, sublime finish. Deceptively medium in body, the 2004 has the stuffing to age well for decades. This is a terrific showing from Bertani. 99 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 2006 Margaux u. 2 x bn. 2 x scuffed labels. Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Margaux has a sense of airiness and wonderful definition on the nose: wild strawberry, redcurrant, cedar and crushed roses soaring from the glass, but it never strives for the opulence of say the 2006 Château Palmer. The palate is very well balanced with fine and quite firm tannin in the mouth. This seems to be approaching its plateau after a decade. While not a powerful or ostentatious Château Margaux, it epitomizes understatement and refinement in a similar vein to Lafite-Rothschild. It is only after the wine has been swallowed that you appreciate its qualities and you feel urged to go back for another sip. Tasted January 2016. WA 94 2 bts.

A spectacular wine, and one that could have been bought for a song when it was released, this blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot was cropped at 33 hectoliters per hectare. Strutting all of its nobility, richness and majesty in 2014, it boasts abundant notes of cedarwood, creme de cassis, licorice and a hint of lead pencil shavings. Full-bodied, rich, dense and fully mature, it is capable of lasting another 7-10 years. This beauty is a big-time sleeper of the vintage. A sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 Pichon Longueville Baron is one of the densest, most concentrated wines of Pauillac in 2008. An inky/purple color is followed by aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, coffee and licorice. Exceptionally fullbodied with velvety tannins and undeniable appeal, this gorgeous, well-proportioned, larger than life 2008 should age effortlessly for two decades or more. With the realistic pricing that remains for many 2008s, this is a no-brainer. May 2011 WA 95 4 bts.

116 LES FORTS DE LATOUR 2005 (1) Pauillac u. bn. scuffed label. LES FORTS DE LATOUR 2009 (1) Pauillac u. bn. scuffed label. Possibly the best second wine ever made at Latour (and I love how the 1982 is drinking at age 30), the 2009 Les Forts de Latour is composed of two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot blended with a tiny dollop of Petit Verdot, and finished at 13.5% alcohol. Juicy notes of creme de cassis, licorice, camphor, smoke and crushed rocks are followed by a rich, unctuously textured, thick, juicy, exceptionally pure, long wine. This beauty will be at its finest in several years and should keep for three decades. December 2011 WA 95 2 bts.

The palate is medium-bodied, but it is the detail and precision that achieves a level that makes the 2010 a benchmark for the Pauillac estate. It sashays towards a tensile, tar and graphite-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is destined for long-term aging insofar that its quality will not be widely appreciated for many years. 121 CHÂTEAU PÉTRUS 2011 Pomerol u. bn. A dense ruby/purple-tinged color and restrained but intriguing aromas of kirsch, raspberry jam, wood spice, and mulberries are found in this full-bodied Petrus. An undeniable success in 2011, it is rich, layered and pure with light to moderate tannin, but seems slightly less muscular and tannic compared to its stablemate, Trotanoy. Forget it for a few years and drink it over the following 25 years. Made from 100% Merlot, it tips the scales at 13.5% alcohol. In short, it is typically open-knit and already showing very well. This is quite opulent. Drink 2017-2042 April 2014 WA 95 JS 95 1 bt.

VIEUX CHÂTEAU CERTAN 2008 (1) Pomerol This is a beautiful wine, much more developed and evolved than the 2010, as one might expect, with perfumed notes of camphor, cedar, charcoal, herbs, and black and red fruits. A blend of 70% of Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine has very complex aromatics, medium to full body, outstanding ripeness, a spicy, perfumed character, and light to moderate tannin. It can benefit from 2-4 years of cellaring and should keep for two decades. May 2011 WA 93 2 bts.

A good value among over-achieving St.Emilion estates is La Fleur Cardinale’s 2009. Composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, some of the abrasive tannins noticeable early on in this big wine (14.5% alcohol) are now sweeter and better integrated. Made from tiny yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, this is a concentrated, rich effort revealing lots of black cherry and black currant fruit as well as a fragrant, firm, full-bodied personality. 149 CHÂTEAU LÉOVILLE BARTON 1990 (2) Saint-Julien u. 1 x bn. 2 x stained labels. The exceptionally concentrated 1990 reveals more polished, sweeter tannins along with a big, sweet kiss of black currant, forest floor, cedar, and spice box notes. While it still has some tannins to shed, this full-bodied, powerful, long wine is approachable. It should continue to evolve for another two decades. 155 CHÂTEAU SAINT-PIERRE 2005 (2) Saint-Julien u. 2 x bn. 1 x stained label. CHÂTEAU SAINT-PIERRE 2009 (3) Saint-Julien u. 3 x bn. The all-time greatest wine I have ever tasted from SaintPierre, this estate, the smallest of the grand cru classes of St.Julien, has an opaque purple color and a spectacular nose of subtle charcoal, creme de cassis, blackberry, and incense. Full-bodied, with striking intensity and flamboyantly rich, exuberant flavors bursting with extract, the St. Pierre has no hard edges, but rather massive, incredibly well-endowed blockbuster style, which should prove to be monumental. Give it 6-8 years to take on more definition and calm down, but this is a 30- to 40-year wine. Bravo! CHÂTEAU TALBOT 2010 (2) Saint-Julien u. 2 x bn. 1 x scraped label. One of the best Talbots over recent years, and possibly the best since the 1986 and 1982, this sexy juggernaut of a wine struts forth with an opaque plum/ ruby/purple color and terrific notes of creme de cassis, licorice, roasted herbs and smoky barbecue. It is a brilliant effort, with full body, wonderful fruit, a savory, expansive mouthfeel, sensational texture and a long finish, but no hardness or astringency. This is a fabulous Talbot to drink over the next 20-25 years. February 2013 WA 94 6 bts.

158 CHÂTEAU HAUT-BAILLY 2008 (2) Pessac-Léognan u. 2 x bn. A candidate for the -wine of the vintage, the 2008 Haut-Bailly possesses incredible complexity. Tell-tale notes of lead pencil shavings, charcoal, damp earth, black cherries and black currants intermixed with a hint of subtle barbecue smoke are present in this classic, quintessential Graves. Medium-bodied with an emerging, precocious complexity, it is a super-pure, beautifully textured, long wine that can be drunk now or cellared for 20-25 years. Bravo! 181 CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD 1983 (1) Pauillac u. vts. scraped & torn label. Finally, the 1983 Lafite is beginning to shed its tannin. The wine exhibits a deep ruby/ garnet color with only a slight lightening at the edge. The intoxicatingly perfumed nose of lead pencil, pain grille, red and black fruits, minerals, and roasted herbs is provocative. In the mouth, this wine displays considerable body for a Lafite, plenty of power, and a fleshy, rich, sweet mid-palate. Long, elegant, plump, and surprisingly fleshy, this outstanding example of Lafite seems largely forgotten given the number of high quality vintages during the golden decade of the eighties. Anticipated maturity: Now-2030 WA 93 CHÂTEAU LATOUR 1986 (1) Pauillac u. bn. scraped & soiled label. 2 bts.

This deeply-colored wine exhibits the tell-tale Lafite bouquet of cedar, subtle herbs, dried pit fruits, minerals, and cassis. Extremely concentrated, with brilliantly focused flavors and huge tannins, this backward, yet impressively endowed Lafite-Rothschild may well turn out to be the wine of the vintage! Anticipated maturity: 2000-2035. WA 94 2 bts.

per lot $1,800 - $2,000

183 CHÂTEAU PONTET-CANET 2005 Pauillac 3 x scuffed labels. The palate is medium-bodied, but dense and structured—certainly a more masculine Pontet-Canet built for long-term ageing. Yet it retains marvelous freshness and vitality all the way through to the pencil-lead, quite saline finish. I suspect that the 2009 Pontet-Canet is more approachable than the 2005, so heeding Robert Parker’s sage advice, afford this up to ten years in your cellar and then reap the rewards of patience. Dense ruby/purple, with notes of crushed rock, blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with some licorice and chocolate, this fullbodied, massive wine from proprietor Philippe Cuvelier coincides with the resurrection of this premier grand cru classé in St.-Emilion. As the wine sits in the glass, notes of espresso roast and chocolate emerge. This full-bodied classic should continue to drink well for another 25 years. This is a killer effort. A dramatic, flamboyant nose of roasted espresso intermixed with chocolate fudge, blackberries, Asian spices, and kirsch jumps from the glass of this ostentatious effort. Fullbodied and layered, with an unctuous texture, gorgeous purity, and an undeniable hedonistic explosion of fruit and glycerin, it can be drunk now, or cellared for 15+ years. To my taste, it is the finest Le Tertre-Roteboeuf since 1990. But watch out for the 2000! April 2001 WA 94 CHÂTEAU ROL VALENTIN 2003 (3) Saint-Émilion u. 3 x bn. 1 x scraped label. 9 bts.

242 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1990 Margaux u. vts. scraped, stained & soiled label. scuffed capsule. It offers an extraordinary aromatic display of spring flowers, camphor, sweet red and black fruits, a hint of licorice, and no evidence of its 100% new oak cask aging. Round and generous with low acidity, but an opulent, full-bodied richness that is fresh with laser-like precision, this stunning wine is just beginning to reach its plateau of full maturity, where it should remain for another three decades. A sensational effort, it is one of the legendary wines made at Chateau Margaux. Reviewed by Robert Parker. October 2016 WA 100 1 6 ltr.

per lot $9,000 - $10,000

243 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1995 Margaux u. vts. soiled & scuffed label. wrinkled capsule The wine is medium to full-bodied, with extraordinary richness, fabulous equilibrium, and hefty tannin in the finish. In spite of its large size and youthfulness, this wine is user-friendly and accessible. This is a thrilling Margaux that will always be softer and more evolved than its broader-shouldered sibling, the 1996. How fascinating it will be to follow the evolution of both of these vintages over the next half century. Anticipated maturity: 20052040. February 1998 WS 97 WA 95 1 3 ltr.

244 CHÂTEAU PÉTRUS 2003 Pomerol u. bn. scraped label. An early September harvest in this hot year produced a 2003 that has reached full maturity. It offers notes of roasted coffee, melted chocolate, figs and black cherry jam. WS 98 WA 93 1 bt.

Inky colored and insanely perfumed, with to-die-for notes of lavender, Provencal herbs, roasted meats, black cherries, truffle, crème de cassis and licorice, it flows onto the palate with massive concentration, a stunning mid-palate and a thick, rich texture that never gets heavy or cumbersome. This is blockbuster stuff that just could not get any better. Drink it anytime over the coming 3-4 decades. February 2015 WA 100 1 3 ltr.

249 BRUNO GIACOSA BAROLO RISERVA LE ROCCHE DEL FALLETTO 2007 (OWC) Piedmont The 2007 Barolo Riserva Le Rocche del Falletto bursts onto the palate with masses of dark fruit. The Riserva is a decidedly dark, brooding wine in this vintage. Scorched earth, smoke, menthol, licorice and new leather flow with marvelous intensity all the way through to the powerful finish. Over time the classic Giacosa bouquet of dried rose petal emerges, rounding out this fabulous effort in grand style. The imposing tannins will require a measure of patience, but the 2007 Riserva is shaping up to be another magnificent, towering Barolo from Bruno Giacosa. Anticipated maturity: 20222042. 250 CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD 1986 Pauillac u. 1 x bn. 1 x vts. 2 x stained & scuffed labels. 1 x raised cork. The palate is beautifully balanced with its trademark firm tannic structure, a MoutonRothschild with backbone and masculinity. Layers of black fruit intermingling with mint and graphite, a hint of licorice emanating from the Merlot, gently fanning out and my God, it is incredibly long. It is not like the 1985 MoutonRothschild that is so fleshy and generous. This is serious, aristocratic Mouton, a true vin de garde and yes, I do think drinkers will have to wait until it reaches its true peak. Sometimes that’s just the way it is. Tasted September 2016. 254 CHÂTEAU LA MISSION HAUT-BRION 1975 Pessac-Léognan u. 2 x vts. 1 x ms. 3 x scraped, wrinkled & bin soiled labels. 2 x stained & corroded capsules. The color is a dark garnet with just a touch of lightening at the rim. Notes of camphor, wood charcoal, black fruits, plums, cedar, damp earth, truffles, asphalt and smoke result in a fabulous set of aromatics that are nothing short of compelling. Based on the aromatics alone, this offering would merit a perfect score, but some of the nasty tannins in this vintage are beginning to make their presence known on the palate. Nevertheless, this is a freak for the year – very concentrated, dense and remarkably youthful. It will undoubtedly provide extraordinary drinking for another 3050 years. August 2012 WA 97 3 73 cl.

255 CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD 1982 Pauillac u. 1 x ts. 1 x vts. 1 x scraped & soiled label. 1 x scuffed label. 2 x scraped capsules. 2 x raised corks. This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Anticipated maturity: 2015-2050+ Drink: 2015-2050 WA 100 2 bts.

per lot $2,000 - $2,300

256 CHÂTEAU HAUT-BRION 2004 Pessac-Léognan u. 3 x 1 cm. 3 x scuffed labels. 1 x scraped label. The palate is medium-bodied and very harmonious, almost caressing thanks to the Merlot lending that velvety texture. The second half changes tack, the Cabernet nudging the Merlot off the stage and delivering a more structured, possibly foursquare finish that is linear and correct. It is an excellent wine for the vintage although it will always be overshadowed by the 2005 inter alia. Maybe more personality just needs to develop? Tasted September 2016. Drink: 2010-2040 WA 93 3 bts.

Lafleur is wont to improve in bottle and this is certainly the case apropos the 2010. It has a boisterous ripe blackberry, cranberry, sous-bois and graphite-scented bouquet that is an absolute beauty. Power mixed with quite brilliant precision, you almost want to laugh at its sheer audacity. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin; there is immense depth and wonderful cohesion. Mineral-drenched black fruit, a slightly chalky texture and outstanding energy and tension on the finish - this is a magnificent Pomerol from the Guinaudeau family. Tasted December 2016. 950 cases produced. WA 99 JS 100 2 bts.

259 TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA MASSETO IGT 2013 (OWC) Tuscany The 2013 Masseto paints a glorious picture of Tuscany. It captures an inspired moment in time and walks an impressive tightrope between power and elegance. In my preview tasting last year, I noticed the firm textural richness of the 2013 vintage and the crystalline sharpness of its aromas. Thanks to 12 additional months of bottle aging, that impression is evermore constant and concrete. The focus is there, yet the wine has also fleshed out and put on more velvety definition especially in terms of mouthfeel. It wears its pedigree with pride, but most importantly it offers the balance and integration to promise a long and healthy aging future. The 2013 vintage follows closely on the heels of the impeccable 2006 and 2010 vintages in terms of cellaring potential. This is definitely a bottle that should interest collectors. 260 HARLAN ESTATE 2006 Napa Valley The 2006 Harlan Estate has turned out better than I originally predicted. Its dense ruby/ purple color is followed by classic aromas of creme de cassis, melted licorice, smoked meats, burning embers, and graphite. It has thrown off some of the tannic clout it displayed last year, revealing great balance. A candidate for “wine of the vintage,” this dense, fullbodied effort has 25+ years of life ahead of it. It is full-bodied and opulent, with no hard edges, a seamless integration of acidity, wood and tannin and a density and richness that are built to go on for 25-30 years. 268 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 2001 Margaux marked label. scraped capsule. The 2001 Chateau Margaux continues to evolve in impressive fashion. The nose feels sensual, veering towards red rather than black fruit, with disarming purity and perhaps showing more floral/violet character than the 1999. Both display tremendous precision and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, edgy and tensile with crisp acidity, so fresh and vital in the mouth. Tasted next to the 1996 Château Margaux, it is clear to see that the 2001 is several steps behind, yet the way it fans out with such confidence and brio on the finish assures that this has a prosperous future. 269 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 2005 Margaux scuffed label. The first-growth 2005 Château Margaux (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot), a lavish fragrance of blackcurrants, velvety new saddle leather, spring flowers and spice soars from the glass. The wood is already totally concealed beneath the cascade of fruit in this medium to full-bodied, pure and majestic wine. This concentrated, dense, but nevertheless strikingly elegant, multi-layered wine has a finish of 45+ seconds. It builds incrementally to a crescendo and finale. This is a stunner that can be approached already, but promises to be better in another 5-10 years and last at least 25 or more years. WS 97 WA 98+ 1 bt.

271 CHÂTEAU CHEVAL BLANC 2005 (OC) Saint-Émilion The 2005 from Cheval Blanc is a quintessentially elegant, beautiful, deep bluish/ruby-colored wine from St.-Emilion, with raspberry, blueberry, and floral notes, impressive density, great precision, freshness and purity. Full-bodied, but extremely light on its feet, I don’t mean to gush, but it is superintense, rich and just so meticulously crafted! This is another fabulous wine and a perfect expression for this vintage. It is difficult to forget the gorgeous blueberry and raspberry fruit, full body, sweet tannin, a multi-layered texture, and purity and palate presence of this stunning wine. Drink it over the next 20 years. P.S. In 2005, this was 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot. Drink: 2015-2035 June 2015 WA 100 1 bt.

290 TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA MASSETO IGT 2005 Tuscany u. vts. The 2005 Masseto (Merlot) is simply gorgeous. A wine of extraordinary class and personality, it remains very primary in its dark fruit, licorice, cassis and toasted oak. It offers notable concentration and well-integrated tannins, all of which convey an impression of awesome harmony, finesse and balance. The tricky growing season seems to have been less of an issue for the Merlot, particularly in the old-vine Masseto Centrale vineyard. The 2005 Masseto has been superb every time I have tasted it thus far. As is often the case, the wine requires at least a few years of bottle age before it becomes approachable. 297 TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA MASSETO IGT 2008 (OWC) Tuscany The 2008 Masseto is another huge wine. It boasts tons of energy in a tense, inward style I can only describe as implosive, as if the wine is holding back all of its energy. A deep core of black fruit, grilled herbs, licorice and new leather emerges from time to time, but the tannins are still imposing. There is no shortage of pedigree. I fully expect the 2008 to develop into one of the great Massetos. Needless to say, it will be interesting to taste the 2008 in vertical tastings in the future. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033. 299 CHÂTEAU HAUT-BRION 2004 Pessac-Léognan marked & scraped labels. Tasted September 2016. 300 CHÂTEAU HAUT-BRION 2004 Pessac-Léognan marked & scraped labels. It has been a few years since I last tasted the 2004 Haut-Brion. Now at 12 years of age, it retains its deep color. The bouquet is “pleasant” if not as complex as the 2004 Latour, yet it’s possibly just biding its time as it gradually opens with black fruit, black olive, even a touch of mint that might dupe you into thinking Pauillac. The palate is medium-bodied and very harmonious, almost caressing thanks to the Merlot lending that velvety texture. The second half changes tack, the Cabernet nudging the Merlot off the stage and delivering a more structured, possibly foursquare finish that is linear and correct. 302 CHÂTEAU ANGÉLUS 2005 Saint-Émilion u. bn. wrinkled & marked label. wrinkled capsule. Truly great stuff, this wine performed at a three-digit level both in the horizontal tasting of 2005s in Baltimore, as well as in Montreal at this mini-vertical. This sensational, opaque, bluish/purple wine offers up notes of vanillin, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, plus a touch of licorice. The wine hits the palate with a thunderous cascade of ripe, rich, concentrated fruit. It is full-bodied, multidimensional and layered. The tannins are beautifully integrated but still present, and the wood, acidity, alcohol, etc., are all beautifully assimilated in this magnificent, majestic vintage of Angelus. It can be drunk now, but it is still an adolescent and that suggests it has at least another 25-35 years of longevity. August 2015 WA 100 1 mag.

Light gold with a tight but promising nose of roasted hazelnuts intermixed with creme brulee, vanilla beans, honey, orange marmalade, and peaches, this medium to full-bodied offering reveals loads of power in its restrained, measured personality. There is admirable acidity, weight, texture, and purity in this impeccably made Yquem. However, patience will be a virtue. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2060. April 2003 WA 95 1 mag.

307 CHÂTEAU D’YQUEM 1997 Sauternes u. 2 x bn. 2 x marked & scraped labels. A vintage of exceptional weather, 1997 was a relatively warm, drought vintage equating to a very slow onset of botrytis this year. The warm temperatures contributed plenty of sweetness, while light rains late in the season finally spurred the spread of noble rot, making for a potentially very good Sauternes vintage in the end. However, strict selection was critical, ultimately allowing d’Yquem to craft an impressive wine well above the vintage’s standard. Drink: 2019-2044 WA 95 2 mags.

315 TENUTA SAN GUIDO BOLGHERI SASSICAIA SASSICAIA 2015 (OWC) Tuscany The long-awaited 2015 Bolgheri Sassicaia represents a tremendous effort that comes together with seamless precision and focus. This is a confident and proud red wine from Tuscany. Starting with the primary material at hand, you sense the quality of fruit thanks to the wine’s beautifully dark appearance and the rich texture it offers to the palate. The acidity is integrated, but more freshness still would have been welcomed in my view (and would also contribute to its longevity). The bouquet is amplified both in terms of volume and length. Its playlist includes dark berry fruit, spice, leather, licorice and roasted coffee bean. Yet, the mouthfeel is extremely graceful and silky. The wine’s undisputed pedigree is showcased on the palate. It should also be noted that this edition of Sassicaia feels more ready and open to me. It will age and evolve beautifully, but the 2015 Sassicaia can also be enjoyed in the medium-term. This wine is all about the here and now. February 2018 Drink: 2020-2045 WA 97 1 mag.

per lot $600 - $800

316 TENUTA SAN GUIDO BOLGHERI SASSICAIA SASSICAIA 2016 (OWC) Tuscany The 2016 Sassicaia is a wine of soaring achievement. I tasted this wine several times during the course of its creation in both barrel and bottle, and the highly deserved 100-point score you see here was enthusiastically assigned at the conclusion of a mini vertical in which I tasted and compared the 2016 vintage against 2015 (which I scored 97 points). It makes perfect sense to present these two excellent vintages in back-to-back comparison fashion because they are two of the best to emerge from Bolgheri, and indeed Tenuta San Guido, in recent memory. These are very similar vintages with long, hot summer months that fueled a long growing season. There was a bit more rain in 2016, and in analytical terms this vintage has a tad more acidity. However, the results in the glass are extraordinarily different. The 2015 vintage is exuberant, round, succulent and immediate, whereas the 2016 vintage shows pinpoint sharpness and precision (with similar grit and texture at the back). That acidity will carry it long into the future as the wine completes its slow evolutionary course. This wine is chiseled and sharp with blackberry, ripe cherry, grilled herb and barbecue spice. An amazing wine in every sense, this classic, full-bodied Pauillac is the quintessential Pontet Canet from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, who continues to reduce yields and farms his vineyards biodynamically – a rarity in Bordeaux. Black as a moonless night, the 2009 Pontet Canet offers up notes of incense, graphite, smoke, licorice, creme de cassis and blackberries. A wine of irrefutable purity, laserlike precision, colossal weight and richness, and sensational freshness, this is a tour de force in winemaking that is capable of lasting 50 or more years. The tannins are elevated, but they are sweet and beautifully integrated as are the acidity, wood and alcohol (which must be in excess of 14%). This vineyard, which is situated on the high plateau of Pauillac adjacent to Mouton Rothschild, appears to have done everything perfectly in 2009. Maturity: 2025-2075 WA 100 3 bts.

per lot $1,000 - $1,200

322 CHÂTEAU GRAND-PUY-LACOSTE 1995 Pauillac u. 1 x bn. 2 x scraped labels. 1 x scraped capsule. Another unbelievably rich, multidimensional, broad-shouldered wine, with slightly more elegance and less weight than the powerhouse 1996, this gorgeously proportioned, medium to full-bodied, fabulously ripe, rich, cassis-scented and flavored Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a beauty. It should be drinkable within 4-5 years, and keep for 25-30. This classic Pauillac is a worthy rival to the other-worldly 1996. February 1998 WS 93 WA 95 2 bts.

per lot $300 - $500

323 CHÂTEAU LE PIN 1999 Pomerol u. bn. Tasted at Bipin Desai’s Le Pin vertical in Los Angeles. Even compared to the 1998 I found that the Le Pin 1999 is far more interesting on the nose, very expressive, pure and beautifully defined with black cherries, cassis, mulberry, hints of fresh fig and damson, but leaving it to acquaint itself with the air: subtle notes of mint and then balsam emerge. The palate is full-bodied and balanced the super-ripe black fruit with both nervosite and a sense of tension. Blackberry, black cherry, a touch of smoke with a touch of zingy mango sorbet just on the finish, leaving the palate fresh and reinvigorated. What a wonderful wine! A total of 550 cases produced. Drink 2010-2020+ Tasted November 2008. May 2009 WA 95 1 bt.

per lot $2,500 - $3,000

327 CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD 1986 Pauillac u. 2 x bn. Tasted at the château, the 1986 LafiteRothschild continues to offer an exquisite bouquet at 30 years of age. This is beautifully defined, still full of energy, with copious blackberry, clove, leather and graphite aromas that seem to gain momentum in the glass. The palate is extremely well balanced with a crystalline quality, filigree tannin, perfectly pitched acidity, a quintessential Lafite-Rothschild with a sense of energy and focus undiminished by time. This finish displays immense purity and refinement, one of the most mineral-driven Lafites that I have encountered, whilst the aftertaste seems to linger for over one minute. It must rank as one of the finest wines from the estate. Robert Parker rated this wine 100 points in December 1997. Tasted July 2016. Drink 2016-2046 WS 94 WA 98 3 bts.

per lot $3,500 - $4,000

328 CHÂTEAU PICHON-LONGUEVILLE BARON 1996 Pauillac u. 1 x bn. 3 x scuffed labels. 1 x wrinkled label. The 1996 Pichon-Longueville Baron has a deep garnet core with some bricking on the rim. The nose is fragrant and generous with more red fruit than black, cedar and tobacco, fine definition, perhaps a little rustic in keeping with the winemaking at the time, but certainly giving lots of pleasure. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin -- a cohesive Pauillac with plenty of depth and fine balance. The acidity lends this plenty of freshness and it does not shortchange you with plenty of tarry, cedary fruit. You come away with the impression that this Pichon Baron is going to continue to improve although I would not burn anyone at the stake for opening it now. If you cannot afford the First Growth then this (and Pichon Lalande) would be where I would come. Tasted July 2016. Drink: 2016-2035 WA 94 4 bts.

per lot $800 - $1,000

Bordeaux Levels

Burgundy Levels

For wines in bottles with defined shoulders, including Bordeaux, Port, and other wines, the level is measured and catalogued as follows:

For wines in bottles with sloping necks, including Burgundy, German and other wines, the level between the cork and wine is measured and catalogued in centimetres.

BASE NECK: Perfectly good for any age of wine. Outstandingly good for a wine of 10 years in bottle, or longer. BN.

the easing of the cork and evaporation through cork and capsule. Usually no problem. Acceptable for any wine over 20 years old. Exceptional for pre-1950 wines. MID SHOULDER: Probably some weakening of the cork

and some risk. Not abnormal for wines 30 - 40 years of age. Estimates usually take this into account. LOW SHOULDER: Risky and usually only accepted

for sale if wine or label exceptionally rare or interesting. Always offered with low estimate. BOTTOM SHOULDER: Not acceptable for sale unless a

rare sort of bottle. Wine will usually be undrinkable.

The condition and drinkability of Burgundy is less affected by ullage than its equivalent from Bordeaux. A 5 - 7 cm ullage in a 50-year-old Burgundy can be considered normal, indeed good for age; 3.5-4 cm excellent for age; 7 cm rarely a risk. Example: (u. 3x5cm) means 3 bottles ullaged 5 cm.

Special notice: Though every effort is made to describe or measure the levels of older vintages, corks over 20 years old begin to lose their elasticity and levels can change between cataloguing and sale. Old corks have also been known to fail during or after shipment. We therefore repeat that there is always a risk of cork failure with old wines and due allowance must be made for this. Under no circumstances can an adjustment of price or credit be made after delivery except under the terms of the warranty stated in the Conditions of Sale.

Some lots are of an age and/or nature which preclude their being in pristine condition and some catalogue descriptions make reference to damage and/or restoration. The lack of such a reference does not imply that a lot is free from defects nor does any reference to certain defects imply the absence of others. 4. Each lot sold is subject to a buyer’s premium of 20% of the successful bid price as part of the purchase price. 5. Unless exempted by law, the buyer is required to pay Harmonized Sales Tax on the total purchase price including the buyer’s premium. For international buyers, taxes are not applicable when purchases are shipped out of country. Items shipped out of Ontario, the buyer is required to

pay taxes as per the tax status of that province, whether it HST or GST (Goods and Services Tax). Purchasers are solely responsible for ensuring that they comply with all laws or regulations in relation to international shipping or the import of alcohol, including, but not limited to the payment of customs charges and duties. 6. The auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot from sale at any time, to divide any lot or to combine any two or more lots at his sole discretion, all without notice. 7. The auctioneer has the right to refuse any bid and to advance the bidding at his absolute discretion. The auctioneer reserves the right not to accept and not to reject any bid. Without limitation, any bid which is not commensurate with the value of the article offered, or which is merely a nominal or fractional advance over the previous bid, may not be recognized. 8. Each lot may be subject to an unpublished reserve which may be changed at any time by agreement between the auctioneer and the consignor. As previously agreed to as between the auctioneer and the consignor, the auctioneer may bid, or direct an employee to bid. In addition, the auctioneer may accept and submit absentee and telephone bids, to be executed by an employee of the auctioneer, pursuant to the instructions of prospective purchasers not in attendance at the sale. 9. The highest bidder accepted by the auctioneer for any lot shall be the buyer and such buyer shall forthwith assume full risk and responsibility for the lot and must comply with such other Conditions of Sale as may be applicable. If any dispute should arise between bidders the auctioneer shall have the absolute discretion to designate the buyer or, at his option, to withdraw any disputed lot from the sale, or to re-offer it at the same or a subsequent sale. The auctioneer’s decision in all cases shall be final.

10. The auctioneer will notify the successful buyer that they have won the bid. 11. The buyer shall pay for all lots within 48 hours from the date of the sale, after which a late charge of 2% per month on the total invoice may be incurred or the auctioneer, in his sole discretion, may cancel the sale. The buyer shall not become the owner of the lot until paid for in full. Items must be removed within 30 days from the date of sale, after which storage charges will be incurred at a rate of $4.00 per case per month. 12. Each lot purchased, unless the sale is cancelled as above, shall be held by the auctioneer at his premises or affiliated storage facility at the sole risk of the buyer until fully paid for and taken away. 13. Notwithstanding Section 3, if the buyer, prior to removal of a lot, makes arrangements satisfactory to the auctioneer for the inspection of such lot by a fully qualified person acceptable to the auctioneer to determine the genuineness or authenticity of the lot, to be carried out promptly following the sale of the lot, and if, but only if, within a period of 14 days following the sale a written opinion of such person is presented to the auctioneer to the effect that the lot is not genuine or authentic, accompanied by a written request by the buyer for rescission of the sale, then the sale of the lot will be rescinded and the sale price refunded to the buyer. 14. Payment for purchases must be by INTERAC direct debit (applicable to Canadian in-person clients only), certified cheque (not applicable to U.S. and international sales), travelers cheque, bank draft, electronic transfer (fee applies), and VISA or Mastercard (up to $25,000). 15. In the event of failure to pay for or remove articles within the time limit set out in Section 11, the auctioneer, without limitation of the rights of the consignor and the auctioneer against the buyer, may resell any of the articles affected, and in such case the original buyer shall be responsible to the auctioneer and the consignor for: a any deficiency in price between the re-sale amount and the amount to have been paid by the original buyer; b charges in relation to the storage of such articles in accordance with Section 11 until payment and removal by the subsequent buyer; and c the amount of commission which the auctioneer would have earned had payment been made in full by the original buyer.

16. It is the responsibility of the buyer to make all arrangements for insuring, packing and removing the Consigned Goods purchased and any assistance by the auctioneer or his servants, agents or contractors, in packing or removal shall be rendered as a courtesy and without any liability to them. 17. The auctioneer acts solely as agent for the consignor and makes no representation as to any attribute of, title to, or restriction affecting the articles consigned for sale. 18. The auctioneer reserves the right to refuse admission to the sale or to refuse to recognize any or all bids from any particular person or persons at any auction. 19.
