Local Flying Club Hoping To Take-Off

Submitted With the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) aims and objectives in mind, a group of local residents are in the beginning stages of forming a Vermilion Flying Club and invite anyone with aviation interest to join. The first meeting will be April 12th at 5:00 PM at the Vermilion Airport Terminal Building. In early 2017 the Town of Vermilion formed an Airport Advisory Committee that consists of Councillor Greg Barr, Councillor Rob Pulyk, and local airport users Darcy Balaneski, Rick Bozak,

and Shawn Jacula. A local flying club is on this committees strategic plan as well as other tasks to increase economic growth for the area by means of aviation. With exciting services coming to the airport soon, it is bound to increase traffic. A flying club is a great way for those interested in aviation to get involved or those who have left aviation to get back into the air. COPA’s aims and objectives include; a) to foster enthusiasm for aviation within the community.

b) to encourage interest in the benefits of personal aviation. c) to develop a spirit of co-operation with other aviation oriented groups. d) to c arr y out aviation promo tional service within the community. For more information, please email CYVGflyingclub@gmail.com
