Lambeth Sounds Music Festival: The Southbank’s annual event returns

The Southbank is alive… with the sound of music

ambeth Music Service is joining forces with the Southbank Centre once again to present the Lambeth Sounds Music Festival.
The Festival provides an opportunity for young musicians from schools and hub partner organisations to share the experience of performing together at a world renowned music venue. It also acts as a platform for young composers and new music.
Opening with Lambeth Sounds Live, young musicians perform jazz, afro-beat, pop, rock and rap music with a mix of live bands, singers, DJs and multi- instrumental ensembles. March 21 at 3pm at Queen Elizabeth Hall. Free and unticketed. The infants and junior singing concerts see over 1800 pupils from Lambeth Primary schools sing an exciting mixture of songs. Conducted by vocal leader Kirsty Keogh and backed by a live band and featuring the famous Royal Festival Hall organ. March 23 at 1:30pm and 6:15pm. Free but ticketed. At the Lambeth Voices concert, Primary and Secondary schools choose their own repertoire to perform a spellbinding mixture of classical, gospel and popular songs. March 24 at 1:30pm and 5:30pm at the Clore Ballroom at Royal Festival Hall. Free and unticketed. Count Me In! returns to the Clore Ballroom and features musicians and singers who learn within special school settings. The concert includes performances and workshops led by SEN/D specialist Kim Perkins. March 26 at 12pm at the Clore Ballroom at Royal Festival Hall. Free and unticketed.
Percussive Sounds shines the spotlight on world music ensembles from schools and hub partner organisations and includes steel pans and drumming groups. March 26 at 5:30pm. Clore Ballroom at Royal Festival Hall. Free and unticketed.
Finally, the Orchestral Sounds Concert is a showcase of Primary and secondary school orchestras, chamber groups and ensembles performing together at Queen Elizabeth Hall. March 27 at 1:30pm and 5:30pm. Free but ticketed.
