Library services for alumni members

All our alumni can apply for free alumni membership of Do you want to set up a business? Alumni can access University of Sheffield Enterprise and their free visit enterprise.

the University Library: you receive a Library card which enables you to borrow books from all library sites. The Library card also allows alumni to access all library sites during staffed service hours, including Western Bank, the Information Commons, the Health Sciences Libraries and the Library Connect area in the Diamond, in addition to the Western Bank and Health Sciences Libraries during self-service hours. Our Students’ Union has been voted top nationally for the tenth consecutive year in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018.

Special Olympics hosts

Our Endcliffe and Ranmoor student residences were turned into the Special Olympic Village for a week last summer when we hosted over 3,000 athletes, their carers, coaches and families who were taking part in the Games.

Boeing in Sheffield

Leading aerospace company Boeing announced that their only production facility in Europe will be opening in Sheffield in late-2018, alongside Factory 2050, part of the University’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

Grayson Perry Orwell Lecture

Titled I’ve read all the academic texts on empathy, renowned artist Grayson Perry delivered the Orwell Lecture in the Octagon Centre, the first time the prestigious event has been held in the North of England for almost 20 years.

We successfully defeated Sheffield Hallam to win Varsity for the sixth consecutive year.

Joining the Sheffield Alumni Family

10,000 students graduated this year, joining the 180,000-strong Sheffield Alumni family.

Enabling success

Thanks to generous donations totalling almost £2.25m, 630 undergraduates have received scholarships over the past five years.

The Big Walk 2018

Over 300 alumni and friends walked a 26.2 mile marathondistance through the Peak District in support of the Sheffield Scanner campaign.
