10.4 Career Services Division The Career Services Division in the Department of Enrolment and Student Administration aims to assist students in getting ready for the world of work. There is an increasing demand for graduates who reflect the attributes, capabilities and dispositions required to perform successfully in any job. Students are encouraged to start preparing for entering the job market as soon as possible. The primary role of the Career Services Division is to prepare students for the start of their careers by assisting them to acquire the necessary soft skills, over and above their academic qualifications to enter and be successful in the world of work. Career Services offers various support functions including assistance with building and writing CVs, cover/motivational letters, advice on career planning, psychometric assessment preparation, job searches, job applications, preparation for interviews and work readiness workshops. Free online work readiness courses, that students may register for and complete to add to their CVs, are offered. These are easily accessible through their UP Student Portal. Employers partner with Career Services to advertise their graduate recruitment opportunities, available job offerings, specific job opportunities for students and internships and learnership programmes on offer. All these opportunities are advertised by Career Services to students via various communication channels including our online platform called TuksCareers that is accessible on the UP Student Portal. Furthermore, Career Services organises various career fairs and events as well as specific company graduate recruitment events where students can interact with employers on a face-to-face basis and enquire about their job offerings.
