Registration week The semester starts with the registration week, which is held in the last week of August/January. During the registration week, degree students: register for study semester, courses, sports activities in the UL Information System (LUIS) or at Student Services. Former students may revoke their student status and current students can apply for the academic leave of absence. Academic calendar The academic year begins in September and is over towards the end of June or in the first half of July (40 weeks of lectures, seminars and practical work, mainly divided into 2 semesters). Admission checklist In order to be accepted for degree studies at the University of Latvia, students have to complete admission steps: • Apply in the system; • Fulfil requirements; • Submit application; • Applicant has to be approved by programme director and AIC (diploma recognition); • Legalize required documents for visa/residence permit; • Copy of residence permit (for non EU citizens);
