Crafternoons for Adults at the Library Join us the third Wednesday of each month for Crafternoons. We will meet downstairs from 2:30pm-4:30pm. Bring your best craft ideas with you on Wednesday, December 21st. This is an informal gathering and a chance to meet new people and learn new craft ideas. Adults ages 18 and over welcome. If you cannot make it in the afternoon, stop by between 6pm-8pm that evening! This month’s theme will be a DIY Holiday Gift Wrapping Theme. Cook the Book: A Cookbook Book Club We pick the cookbook or theme, you select and make a recipe from that cookbook or theme. Special Cook the Book Cookie Exchange • Wednesday, December 14th at 7pm Trade cookies and recipes. New Release Movie Day Come to the Library on Friday, December 16th at 2:30pm to watch this new romantic comedy starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey.

Board meeting: Wednesday, December 7th @ 6 p.m. Donora Head Start: The Donora Head Start Center will be having socials at the library on the following dates: Friday, December 2nd @ 11 a.m. Friday, December 16th @ 11 a.m. If you are interested in coming to one of the Head Start socials, contact Nickelle at the center for more details. Mario Kart: All Ages Round Two of Mario Kart will begin on Saturday, December 3rd, so if you still have not played your rounds you need to ASAP for your chance to move on. Story Time: Ages 6 months to 5 years Fridays, December 2nd, 9th and 16th @ 11 a.m. Miss Angie loves the holiday season and is going to sharing lots of great holiday stories and doing even more holiday crafts. Girl Scouts: 8 to 9-year-old girls The Donora fourth grade Girl Scouts will be meeting on the following Monday at the library on December 12. If you have a fourth grader that would like to come join in the fun, you can come to the meeting. Lego Club: Ages 6 and Up Saturday, December 10th @ 1 p.m. Our group of builders is looking for some fresh ideas and fresh new faces. Come and experience the fun we have building and creating. Wee Build: ages 6 months to 5 years Saturday, December 17th @ 1 p.m. This program is designed for the younger builders in our community! Holiday Craft Program and Visit with Santa: (All Ages) Saturday, December 17th 3 – 4 SIGN-UP IS REQUIRED!!! Join us on Saturday, December 3, 2016, as the Library partners with the Greater Monessen Historical Society and the Monessen Community Development Corporation for a community Christmas. There will be singing, children’s activities, photos with Santa, and fun for the family. The Friends of the Library Holiday Boutique is open from 12-3 p.m. during days the Library is open. The Mon Valley Genealogy Forum will meet on Monday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m. There is a new Monessen Library EBook Club that features discussion, which will be mostly online. Those who wish to learn how to knit or crochet are also encouraged to join! Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center will be closed on December 24, 26, 31, 2016 and January 2, 2017. Alley’s Adventure Time will be held on Mondays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m. Toddler Time will be on Monday afternoons at 1 p.m. Wacky Wednesdays are for ages 8 – 12 and will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, December 5, at 6 p.m. “Family Movie Night” celebrates the birthday of Walt Disney with a movie. It is also Mitten Tree Day. Donations of clean, gently used or new mittens, hats or warm socks can be placed on a tree for children in need. Feel free to help yourself, if in need. Saturday, December 10, at 11 a.m. “Christmas is for the Birds” - Make edible ornaments for our feathered friends and hang them in the Library garden. Monday, December 12, at 6 p.m. A Christmas celebration with a special northern visitor for “National Noodle Day”
and “National Hot Cocoa Day.” Saturday, December 17, at 11 a.m. “Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.” There will be a tea party with Christmas carols and cookies. Monday, December 19, at 6 p.m. Read the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and create an ornament.
