Founded nationally in 1906 at the Miami University of Ohio, Phi Kappa Tau men strive to be “Men of Distinction”. Here at the University of Georgia we’ve been upholding this ideal since our charter in 1950.

The Beta Xi chapter is one of the largest Phi Tau chapters in the country. We place a strong emphasis on our brotherhood, academics, and athletics. Phi Tau has a dense social calendar, including socials, date nights, fall and spring band parties, and a yearly Spring Formal trip, with rotating destinations including Savannah and New Orleans. We hold tailgates, a parents weekend each semester and a yearly mountain trip. Phi Kappa Tau prides itself on its diverse set of majors and interests and its commitment to academics. Our alumni funded academic scholarships help several students pursue opportunities that were previously unavailable to them. Phi Tau competes in several IM leagues including basketball, football, softball and soccer.

Brothers of the Beta Xi chapter are strongly encouraged to lead and serve in other aspects of life at UGA. Brothers are members of UGA Miracle, SWAB, The Corsair Society, Terry Ambassadors, IFC, as well as numerous other campus involvements. In our most recent year, our brotherhood has raised over $18,000 for our own philanthropy, Serious Fun Children’s Network. Our goal is to champion a lifelong commitment to brotherhood, ethical leadership, and exemplary character.

In the late 1880’s, a group of students at Brown University organized themselves as a societal fraternity based on the fellowship of their Catholic faith. In 1889, Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity was established. The Georgia Delta Rho Chapter was founded at the University of Georgia in 1963, and has prided itself on its strong brotherhood, philanthropy efforts, and academic rigor.

Brothers are heavily involved in campus programs including intramural and club sports, Honors College, UGA Miracle, SGA and more. Phi Kappa Theta provides exceptional opportunities to develop leadership skills as well as building professional networks and forming life-long relationships. Whilst maintaining academic and extracurricular pursuits, the brotherhood retains an active social schedule including our historic annual Greenhouse party, weekly socials and date nights, and monthly brotherhood events. Prominent alumni include UGA Athletic Director Vince Dooley and President John F. Kennedy.
