If a cadet misses any time during the academy, the cadet must state in writing the reasons for the absence. The Academy Director may approve absences due to unforeseen emergencies, illnesses, subpoenas, mandatory duties of current law enforcement, or other unusual circumstances. Any work missed must be made up during the current academy at an additional cost to the cadet. The cadet will be required to provide documentation for excused absences, such as a copy of the subpoena, doctor's statement, etc. Absences of more than five (5) hours or 50%, whichever is less, in any training block would require the cadet to attend the entire block in the next subsequent academy unless the absence was due to mandatory duties of current law enforcement or military service.
