BALLISTIC HELMET INFORMATION
The most important variables for procurement, aside from cost, are desired level of protection, weight, comfort, and desired upgrades (lights, communication headsets, ballistic visors, etc.). TSSi’s decades of experience working with well-known helmet manufacturers enables us to provide our customers the best combination of these variables to meet your requirements. TSSi recommends that ballistic helmets purchased by fire and EMS organizations should always be independently tested in accordance with the NIJ 0106.01 protocol using NIJ 0101.06 (soft body armor) Type II or IIIA test rounds, weights and velocities.
ACTIVE RESPONSE
Ballistic helmet capabilities desired by fire and EMS organizations should be fulfilled by helmets that have been tested in accordance with National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Standard 0106.01 for specific handgun bullet types, weights and velocities. Unlike the NIJ standard for soft body armor, there is no current NIJ certification process for helmets but NIJ 0106.01 does identify a protocol for evaluating ballistic penetration and impact attenuation from 4 test rounds (front, back, left and right side).
Viper A3 Helmet Revision’s Viper A3 Helmet System provides a combination of ballistic and impact head protection in multiple coverage configurations, each of which can be upgraded to provide enhanced capabilities. Users can choose from either a full, mid or high cut design in four different sizes (small, medium, large and extra-large). The basic helmets come with a .75” liner pad set and standard harness. Optional upgrades include (side-mounted) Long Rails, Front Mount, (protective) Visors and a Modular Suspension System. Ballistic Perrformance: • • •

Viper Standalone Long Rails
Viper Front Mount The Viper Front Mount affixes to Revision helmets using existing helmet holes and enables the user to attach the Revision Visor in addition to Night Vision Goggles and a variety of headlamps
The Interlocking and Standalone Viper Long Rails mount to Revision helmets using existing helmet holes and enable the user to affix lights, cameras and other accessories to either side of the helmet. The Interlocking Long Rails are used in conjunction with the Front Mount. ITEM #: 4-0533
Modular Suspension System The Modular Suspension System affixes to Revision helmets using existing helmet holes and provides the user with a more comfortable suspension system than the standard helmet harness. It includes interchangeable comfort pads, breathable mesh crown liner, and a dial system for easy one-handed fit adjustment while wearing the helmet. This system exceeds U.S. Army standards for helmet impact protection.

Viper Visor The Max and Standard Viper Visors attach to Revision helmets using the Viper Front Mount and provide the user with both ballistic (17 grain projectile V50 at 804 ft/sec) and impact (23 joules) protection. Viper Visor lens are coated to protect against fogging, scratching and common chemicals. The Max Visor provides extended facial coverage while the Standard Visor is designed to be worn in conjunction with an M50 gas mask.
