Our Executive Director, Jim Krappel, and our Membership Manager, Pam Dorband, have worked tirelessly to improve our services, programming and communication to our members. The first person is receiving The Chamber’s Excellence in Service Award. This person goes above and beyond the call of duty working extra hours (sometimes pulling all nighters -honestly) to make sure every event is perfect. Your an asset to our organization and to the Village you serve, Dru Garcia. Our next award is for our Chamber’s Excellence in Leadership Award. This person has put in countless hours, side by side with Dru, adding professionalism and membership value to the Chamber, Miriam Campbell. Thank you both for your vision, your leadership and support. Congratulations! All of this could not be accomplished without the strategic alliance we enjoy with the Village of Wheeling and the City of Prospect Heights. We are very grateful and thank you for your leadership, your partnership and friendship over the years. Ok on with the show. Time to add a little levity to today’s program to hear about what is going on in the City of Prospect Heights. A warm welcome to Mayor Nick Helmer.

I

I am a 22-year Wheeling resident and have served on the Village’s Plan Commission for the past 15 years. I retired from Lincolnwood School District in 2011 and currently serve on the board of the Partnership Finance Credit Union. When I was asked to join the Chamber of Commerce team, I recognized an opportunity to put my knowledge of economic development, my experience

with nonprofit groups, and my familiarity with the community’s relationship networks to work on behalf of local businesses. I support the Chamber in its mission to help its members grow and prosper by developing relevant educational and informative programs and by encouraging meaningful connections between community partners.
