IRES US. FAMILY INSP

FAMILY IS EVERYTHING Fisk Johnson, 5th generation SC Johnson A thought that is with me every moment of the day. As a father - as a 5th generation Johnson. For years, we've stated that SC Johnson is a family company - but I just want to explain what that really means. To start, it means that we don't report to Wall Street. The decisions we make come down to caring for you and the world we share -not what analysts want to hear. And, quite frankly, that doesn't always mean doing what's easy. But when I go to bed at night, I know what we're trying to do is right. It also means that all those products you've come to trust over the years - well you can trust that they're made with your family’s interest in mind. Trust that they're right for your house and our world. Times may have changed since my great greatgrandfather started SC Johnson, but the inspiration behind what we do remains exactly the same.

GREETING On behalf of the Village of Mount Pleasant, we want to welcome you to our community. We are proud to bring you the 2016 Community Guide, for all things Mount Pleasant. Through insight and vision we have witnessed a large growth pattern both in industry and housing development. As a village, we look to continue this pattern in the coming years. With a population of 26,375, Mount Pleasant offers a small-town sense of community while still allowing for easy access to larger metropolitan areas.

Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport and downtown is just minutes from our border, and Chicago is just to our south. The Village of Mount Pleasant is one of the fastest developing communities in southeastern Wisconsin. Located on the Western shore of Lake Michigan, the village offers a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Whether you are here for a short visit or a long-term stay, we look forward to helping you make Mount Pleasant your own.

We are an active, growing faith community committed to answer God’s call to prayer, formation and outreach to those in need.

All are welcome!

SHOPPING, DINING & LODGING

Mount Pleasant offers a wide variety of shopping and dining experiences. With the continued growth of the community, there is an additional expansion of retail options. In 2015, O&H Danish Bakery opened a new facility in Mount Pleasant, which is home to their bakery operations and flagship store. Bringing in tourists from around the country, O&H bakery serves as one of Mount Pleasant and Racine County’s best kept secrets: Kringle. Kringle is a Danish pastry that is the official pastry of the State of Wisconsin. Area menus range from classic American dishes to mouth-watering ethnic cuisine. Whether you crave a quick meal or a relaxed dinner at one of our many fine restaurants, Mount Pleasant has it all. Mount Pleasant has a variety of hotel options. Our fine hotels offer amenities such as conference facilities for business travelers and families. Lodging accommodations can be found throughout the village.

PARKS AND RECREATION With nearby local and county parks (in both well-established and new neighborhoods) and lively competitive athletic programs, Mount Pleasant makes businesses and residents feel right at home. Residents enjoy more than 300 acres of regional, county and neighborhood parks. New development contributes to new parkland being added on an ongoing basis. The top-quality Mount Pleasant Parks and Recreation Department ball teams and tot lot programs provide recreational programs for families. Residents enjoy a wide variety of public and private golf courses in the region. Seniors enjoy camaraderie at their weekly card game housed at Mount Pleasant Village Hall. The 52-acre Caledonia/Mount Pleasant Memorial Park has been a premier destination in the area for over 50 years. The hall and shelters are available every week for many family and community functions. The Kids Connection community-built playground is the main feature at this park providing excellent recreational amenities and has inspired a similar community-built playground, Kids Cove, at Racine’s North Beach. 14

The Racine Area Soccer Association’s (RASA) games take place at the adjacent RASA property on spring and fall weekends. The village has two large community parks. Smolenski Park is a 70-acre sprawling nature/wildlife preserve that features walking trails, a playground and a European-style picnic pavilion. Stewart-McBride Park is a 16-acre park with two groomed softball diamonds, two sand volleyball courts and expansive playground equipment. The village also has seven neighborhood parks spread throughout the village’s residential areas. Approximately 3,000 area children focus their attention on baseball and football at Haban Park sponsored by Racine Youth Sports. Cross-country skiing is a popular winter sport at nearby Riverbend Nature Center and Johnson Park. The Root River is popular for worldclass fly-fishing and canoeing, and of course, Mount Pleasant’s eastern border with Lake Michigan offers gorgeous sunrises with unsurpassed recreation and leisure time activities – from sailing and diving to recreational boating. Cooling off in the summer is refreshing in the spring-
