PARKS & RECREATION Just recently nominated for a third time, the two-time national Gold Medal award-winning Carol Stream Park District is recognized as one of the best in the nation. Amenities include more than 40 different parks and playgrounds, a “Most Loved Preschool” on the social media site Hulafrog and two recreation centers, Simkus and Fountain View. The 90,000-squarefoot Fountain View Recreation Center opened in September 2013 and serves as a hub for recreation activities. The center includes an indoor swimming pool, a stateof-the-art fitness center, gymnasium with three full basketball courts, three multipurpose rooms on the first floor and a second floor running/walking track. Two walls of the new fitness center feature giant floor-to-ceiling windows offering members natural lighting and a spectacular view of Veteran’s Lake and park to members as they swim, work out or take a lap around the track. The spacious new facility boasts many green features that make it energy efficient and easier on the environment. The Fountain View Fitness Center has just over 4,000 inclusive members, enjoying state-of-the-art and digital equipment and over 80 fitness classes. The most popular classes are Zumba, Women on Weights and Body Pump. Classes accommodate business member who may want to work out at lunch or before and after work. Classes start between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and numerous classes after 5:30 p.m. are designed for the evening fitness enthusiast.

If you work in Carol Stream but live elsewhere, you can take advantage of resident rates. Business or corporate memberships are also available.
