Mike Worley enters his fourth season as the director of basketball operations at Troy. He joinsed the staff after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas.

Patrick Moynihan enters his first season as video coordinator at Troy. Moynihan comes to the Trojans after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at North Alabama.

As a member of the Texas East Conference, the Rangers improved in all three seasons Worley spent on the bench. Kilgore won the 14-team Region XIV regular season title outright in 2012-13 finishing 27-6 (15-4 in conference) en route to an NJCAA National Tournament appearance and Sweet-16 finish.

The Lions had a winning record in 2015-16, going 16-13 on the year with a 12-4 record at home and 13-9 in the Gulf South Conference. The season was highlighted by a 94-81 win over Kentucky Wesleyan, which was ranked fifth in the country and was one of only three losses on the year.

Prior to his time in East Texas, Worley was an assistant coach to former NBA and collegiate stand-out Todd Day with the Arkansas Impact based out of Little Rock, Ark. As members of the Premier Basketball League (PBL), the Impact won the Western Division of the pro league and advanced to the championship game of the 2008 PBL Playoffs.

The 2015-16 season was a three-game improvement over the 2014-15 season when North Alabama went 13-16 but had a home winning record of 8-5.

In 2006-07 Worley was an assistant to current Mercer men’s basketball head coach Bob Hoffman in the American Basketball Association (ABA) with the Arkansas Aeros. The team finished that season 25-2 and won the South Division of the White Conference. The Aeros stayed atop the 41-team league’s rankings for 12 straight weeks during the year. Arkansas led the league in scoring average at 133 points per game. In 2005-06 Worley was an assistant coach for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Lions won the Bi-State Conference Tournament and then proceeded to win the NJCAA National Title in Hutchinson, Kan., defeating Tallahassee Community College 68-59. UAFS concluded the year with a 33-3 overall record. Prior to embarking on his coaching career, Worley played at Coffeyville Community College, Creighton and University of Denver, accumulating over 1,100 points in his collegiate years. At Coffeyville Community College, Worley was named the first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Male Athlete of the Year in 1993, averaging 18.1 points per game, and 2.1 rebounds per contest, shooting 87 percent from the charity stripe. As a student-athlete in the Jayhawk East Conference, Worley was named to the AllJayHawk Conference first-team, and was a NJCAA Academic All-American, and led his team to the Region 6 semifinals in 1993. After two standout years at Coffeyville, Worley accepted a scholarship to Creighton. After one season with the Bluejays, Worley transferred and finished his college career at the University of Denver. Worley was named to the dean’s honor roll three times as he earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications, whilst minoring in philosophy.

Moynihan is a 2013 graduate of the University of North Georgia, where he lettered in men’s basketball for four seasons. As a two-year captain at UNG, he was a Peach Belt Conference All-Academic selection. He scored more than 400 points during his career, including a junior season that saw him put up 236 points. He graduated in 2013 with degrees in finance and management. After graduation, Moynihan coached as an assistant at Buford High School where he helped the Wolves to a 28-6 season, which included a 22-game winning streak. The team won the 2014 Region 6 AAA Championship and was the AAA State RunnerUp. He also coached the Atlanta All-Stars AAU team to a Georgia State Championship and a 10th-place finish at nationals. His basketball career started at Centennial High School, which he graduated from in 2008. He lettered three times for the Knights and the team won the Region 8 AAAAA Championship and was AAAAA State Runner-Up in 2007. Moynihan was born and raised in Alpharetta, Ga. He is the grandson of former Davidson, Maryland, James Madison and Georgia State head coach Charles ‘Lefty’ Driesell and nephew of Citadel head coach Chuck Driesell. His brother, Michael, is the director of operations at Mississippi State.

Prior to his collegiate career, Worley wrapped up his prep career as the third all-time leading scorer in Colorado’s state history with 2,369 points. Worley was a four-time all-conference member, three-time all-state member and a two-time 2A player of the year by the Denver Post. Worley continued to show promise as he led his team to the Colorado 2A state title in 1990.
