During his time as the offensive coordinator, Troy players have set single-season school records in passing attempts (twice), passing completions, completion percentage, receptions and receptions/game. Trojan players have also posted top three singleseason totals in passing yards, passing touchdowns, passing yards per game, receiving yards, total offense and all-purpose yards. Brandon Burks became the second 1,000-yard rusher during Edenfield’s reign as offensive coordinator after he finished the 2015 season with 1,005 yards on the ground in addition to seven touchdowns. Edenfield continued his tradition of coaching record-setting quarterbacks as Brandon Silvers etched his name in the NCAA record book in 2014 for the highest completion percentage by a freshman in NCAA history. Silvers completed 70.5 percent of his passes to break former Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford’s mark of 69.5 percent. Quarterback Corey Robinson set the NCAA record for completion percentage (30 att.) with a 30-for-32 game against UAB in 2013 and became the fifth player in NCAA history to throw for over 3,000 yards and accumulate 3,000 yards of total offense in four different seasons. Robinson left Troy with 11 Troy and Sun Belt Conference records, while wide receiver Eric Thomas left campus as the Sun Belt’s all-time leader with 29 career touchdown receptions. The Trojans finished 11th nationally in 2012 after averaging a school record 498.8 yards per contest. Troy finished eighth in the NCAA averaging 331.5 passing yards per game and the offensive line was 25th with just 1.25 sacks allowed per game. The 2012 Trojans shredded a pair of SEC defenses as Edenfield’s unit torched Tennessee for 721 yards and Mississippi State for 572 yards. It was the most yards ever allowed by a Tennessee team in the history of the school and the second most allowed by a Dan Mullen team at Mississippi State. Troy’s tally at Tennessee was the most allowed by an SEC team in 2012 and the Mississippi State total was the sixth most allowed. In 2011, Troy continued its dominance through the air, as the Trojans finished second in the Sun Belt with 291.3 passing yards per game. Robinson led the league in passing, as the signal caller passed for 3,411 yards and 21 touchdowns. Under Edenfield in 2009, Jerrel Jernigan became the fourth receiver in Troy history to record more than 1,000 yards in a season. In 2010, Edenfield’s first as offensive coordinator, the Trojans averaged 453.5 yards per game in total offense. Not only did they put up impressive yardage numbers, but the Trojans scored an average of 34.1 points per game; scoring 30 or more points 10 times - including four games of 40+ points. Corey Robinson was named Freshman of the Year as he averaged 286.6 yards passing per game in Edenfield’s offense. He spent the six previous seasons as the offensive coordinator at North Alabama, where he helped direct one of the most productive offenses in NCAA Division II. The Lions broke scores of school records and ranked among the offensive leaders in both the Gulf South Conference and Division II annually. Edenfield helped lead UNA to two conference championships and four NCAA playoff berths in his six years at the school including an overall 54-19 record.
In 2007, UNA went 10-2 and reached the quarterfinals of the Division II playoffs for the fourth time in five years. With a number six national ranking in the final Division II poll, UNA also ranked in the final Top 10 poll for Division II for the fourth time since 2003. North Alabama quarterback A.J. Milwee was a national finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II Player of the Year. In 2006, North Alabama went 11-1, won the Gulf South Conference championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs. In 2005, Edenfield directed a UNA offense that paved the way to an 11-3 record. The Lions broke 28 offensive records and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs. From that team, six Lions were named NCAA Division II All-Americans - including Harlon Hill Trophy finalist Anthony Merritt. In 2003, Edenfield guided the Lions to a 13-1 record, a Gulf South Conference championship and a semifinal berth. Along the way, UNA broke 11 school team records and 20 individual records, while producing the Harlon Hill Trophy winner in quarterback Will Hall. Edenfield is a native of Clinton, La. He and his wife Pamela have a son KD and daughters Caitlin, Christina and Kiley. KD is currenty a member of the Troy coaching staff as a graduate assistant following a four-year playing career for the Trojans.
