Supporting Graduate Students: Dunlevie King’s Hall Studentships Trinity’s academic reputation depends on its ability to recruit and nurture the very best students from around the world, and to provide them with the funding they need to pursue their academic careers in Cambridge. In 2017, 700 years after the founding of King’s Hall, later to become part of Trinity, Elizabeth and Bruce Dunlevie (1977) made a generous gift to the College to support students in their MPhil studies. Funding for graduate study is often limited, and so Trinity is deeply grateful to Elizabeth and Bruce and all those who support graduate studentships and thereby help talented students to fulfil their academic potential. The first seven Dunlevie King’s Hall students joined the College in 2018. Elizabeth and Bruce commented, “We are pleased to be able to support Trinity graduate studentships, which the College has identified as an area of need. We encourage anyone who is in the position to do so to provide support for the next generation of graduate students.”

“The Studentship allows me to focus purely on my academic work, rather than having to worry about the financial burden that would ordinarily go along with a Master’s course. I recognise that, especially as a graduate student in the often underfunded humanities, this is a truly privileged position to be in, and one I am very grateful to have been afforded.” Cornelius Dieckmann “Without the Studentship I would not have been able to study at Cambridge University. Sometimes when I sit in Trinity College Hall, feeling insignificant surrounded by such grand architecture, I pinch myself to make sure that I am not dreaming. To be able to meet people from all over the world and be given the space and opportunity to think deeply about how to solve global problems is a rare privilege. I am grateful for it.” Iyeyinka Omigbodun
