Annual 5 & 10k Run:

The run is in its 9th year and promises to be one of the biggest and best yet. Participants can register on the online platform myrunresults.com.

This year’s run honors club stalwart, the late Tom Begley, who was a dedicated GAA volunteer and had a lifelong association with the club.

Seniors:

The seniors are currently on a break, but will be back in action soon with the National football league starting next week and the Tralee town board in midFebruary.

NÓTAÍ NA mBAN (Ladies Section):

The ladies section of the club is thriving and new players are welcome to join.

Some of the girls have made the panel of the Kerry teams at U14, U16, and minors, a great achievement.

The U12 girls had their first session of the season last Saturday and are excited for the new season.

The U14 and U16 girls will begin indoor training soon.

The minor ladies have already kicked off with a challenge game and the senior ladies’ training dates will be announced soon.

SAFEGUARDING:

A safeguarding 1 course for coaches and officers will be held on February 2nd. It is mandatory that all engaging with U18s has this course completed and renewed every 3 years.

AGM:

In preparation for the new season, there will be a meeting in the Healy room at 7.30p.m. on Wednesday 25th. All senior players, parents, and coaches are invited to attend.

SCHOOL FOOTBALL:

Congrats to Mercy Mounthawk Junior ladies and our club players who are now through to the final after beating Our Ladys, Templemore in the Munster semifinal last week.

Best of luck in the final in a few weeks time v Skibbereen.

JOHN MITCHELS CLUB NOTES

• Well done to the John Mitchels players who were part of a historic Mercy Mounthawk win in the Corn Ui Mhuiri quarter final over Clonakilty CC

• Sean Corkery and Bobby Bryne played vital roles in the victory while we also had panelists Cian O Shea, Cathal Murphy and James Moran.

• They will now play the winners of The Sem and Bandon in the Semifinal on January 28th.

• Irish Life Steps Challenge returns, starting on January 11th and running till February 15th.

• Club will be entered into a draw to win O’Neill’s vouchers once they collectively hit 4000km in steps.

• Everyone should register on the “My Life” app, and join “Munster GAA - Every Step Counts”, and “John Mitchels Kerry”.

• Ireland Lights Up weekly walk, in collaboration with “Operation Transformation” will return on Thursday 12th January at 7pm on our Club walkway.

• 6AM FULL BODY STRENGHT AND CONDITIONING CLASSES FREE FOR ALL MEMBERS on

Mondays and Thursdays.

• Senior Ladies and U16 girls Strength and Conditioning is on Thursdays from 8pm-9pm and Sundays from 11am-12pm.

• Bingo is on Wednesday and Friday nights at 8.30pm

• Lotto results: Sunday 22nd January 2023, numbers were 11, 20, 24 & 30, no winner of the Jackpot of €2,750.00

• Next week’s Jackpot is €2,800.00 and the draw will take place on Facebook Live on Sunday 29th January 2023 at 11am

• Clothes collection on site with St Vincent De Paul to raise funds for both John Mitchel’s and SVP.

• Club walkway is open for everyone to enjoy, smoke free zone, no cycling, studded boots or dog walking.

• Boot club is now back if you want to drop off your old boots to be reused.

• John Mitchel’s Sports Complex & Chamfers is available for hire for indoor soccer, basketball etc or our Astro turf.

• Old clubhouse on John Joe Sheehy Road is also available to hire for events.

• Membership for 2023 is Now Open!

Austin Stacks

The Austin Stacks GAA club had a successful weekend of training for their Under 7, Under 9, Under 11, and Under 13 teams. The Under 7 and Under 9 teams had their second session of the year in the Mercy Mounthawk Gym, while the Under 11 team had a workout on The Green CBS Astroturf Pitch. The Under 13 team, led by former Kerry Minor footballer Jack Ó Muireagáin, continues with Friday night sessions at the Kerry Sports Academy and will begin Sunday morning sessions at the MTU GAA astroturf pitch on January 29th. The Rock minors are also back training again on Sunday mornings at 12:00 in Connolly Park for the first game in the Division 1 Minor County League on February 18th. The club announced a supporters’ night on February 4th honoring their senior players and announcing the Super Supporters award. They also reminded members of their online club shop, club cards on Monday and Thursday nights and club lotto with a jackpot of €3,150.

St Pats Gaa Club

Club Lotto

• There was no winner of the club Lotto jackpot of €5000 on Sunday night last. The numbers drawn were 01, 02, 03, and 11.

• Next week’s lotto will have a jackpot of €5100 and the draw will take place on Sunday night 29/01/2023 at 9:15 PM in Keane’s of Curraheen. The club lotto can be played online through the club website www.stpatsgaclub.com.

• Many Thanks to All who contribute to our weekly club Lotto. The club cannot emphasize enough the importance of our members promoting the club Lotto among family, friends, and work colleagues. The lotto is now a critical source of funds for the club. We are appealing to all club members to promote our Lotto at this time to ensure our club’s future viability. Please have your Lotto entries in by 7pm, every Sunday evening.

Ireland Lights Up

• Our walking series as part of ‘Ireland Lights Up’ will continue this week.

• We look forward to 4 more weeks of group walking. Registration starts at 6pm setting off from St Pats Clubhouse at 6.30pm sharp, don’t forget to sign in and wear your HIGH VIS jacket.

• The route for this year is starting at St Pats Clubhouse V92RH98, by the canal to the marina and back again. It is a free event and refreshments afterward. No Age limit and Buggies are welcome.

Kingdom Swimming Club Weekly News

Gerry Ryan Memorial Gala

A great weekend of swimming was had at the Gerry Ryan Memorial Gala in UL, held over the weekend ; The three day invitational Gala welcomed clubs from all over Ireland to compete in LC (Long Course50m) and provided the first opportunity of the year to achieve qualification times for up-coming championships. Well done to all swimmers , many of whom achieved PBs and qualification times. Special mention to Alex Ahern on an impressive performance in his 100m free recording a new PB of 1.07.- One to watch! A special word of congratulations to our medal winners-

Congratulations also to our three Kingdom Swimmers who achieved qualification times for the prestigious Irish Open Championships this April, Liam O' Conor, Cian Mason & Rory Boyd. Well done also to our swimmers ,for whom this was their first experience of swimming LC - Iza, Rebecca, Ali, Chloe, Emily, Alex & Fernando. Thanks to Limerick Swimming club for hosting and to our team managers, coaches, officials , volunteers and everyone who assisted in the preparation and running of the event.

Quote from Head Coach John Edwards –“Well done to all our swimmers from our junior to seniors, it was encouraging to see the emerging and future talent of the club compete at a Gala of this standard; The weekend event was a huge learning experience and provided a great opportunity for team building with both younger and older swimmers enjoying the comradery and cheering each other on in their respective events.

A special mention to our Team Captains Cian Mason & Maire O’Sullivan for embracing their roles and offering encouragement to all our swimmers ,particularly our swimmers for whom the event was their first experience of Long Course (LC). We have no doubt our swimmers are all refocused & rejuvenated after the event and looking forward to building on their progress for the coming season.
