You should now have a clean and level seedbed. Broadcast or drill seed at the planting rate supplied on the seed bag, and be sure to plant seed at the correct depth. By planting the right plants in the right place, at the right time, food plots can be used to attract, grow, and hold bigger bucks in a specific area and relieve pressure on native habitats to the benefit of all wildlife. Providing food sources year-round will keep deer and other wildlife on your property season after season.
You’ll want to pick an open area that gets plenty of sunlight and is relatively level. TURN THE SOIL Till or disc the area to turn the dead weeds and vegetation underground. Shake & Rake and Wicked Greens are Tecomate® minimal to no-till products for those with smaller plots. Just shake, rake and watch them grow.
PRAY FOR RAIN Unless you have the ability to irrigate, try to time your planting when rain is in the forecast. KILL EXISTING VEGETATION Spray the area with an herbicide to kill any weeds or grasses that are already growing. Wait at least seven days before planting.

Tecomate pH Booster is a concentrated formula created to improve soil health in those hard to get to areas. Tecomate pH Booster manipulates soil chemistry differently than traditional calcium and lime products which require tons to the acre to increase pH. This product only takes a fraction of the amount of lime to react with the soil improving seed germination and overall plant health. Like the Tecomate Plant Xploder fertilizer, this can be applied with a handheld spray tank for smaller areas or with a UTV/ATV spray tank for larger plots. Apply pH Booster once for annual plots and two to three times a year for perennial plots. With Tecomate pH Booster, you can now get your food plot the nutrients it needs no matter how hard it is to get to.

Tecomate Plant Xploder® is a balanced 2020-20 fertilizer with added micronutrients that supplies the needed “food” for any food plot. Plant Xploder® is water-soluble which dissolves easily in water, allowing nutrients to become plant-available through both leaves and roots. This food plot fertilizer can be used when starting a plot or after a plot is established for needed maintenance. Plant Xploder’s® formulation of NPK along with select micronutrients is designed to promote uniform growth and development, all the while increasing plant nutrition and desirability.
