Tom Simmons

Rev. Tom Simmons has served as Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Purcellville, Virginia since 2002. Ordained in 1998, he is committed to proclaiming Jesus Christ above all else—through thoughtful preaching, rich liturgy, and faithful teaching that equips others to grow spiritually and share their faith confidently. Tom holds a Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary, an M.A. in Christian Education from Virginia Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where he studied under renowned homiletics scholar Haddon Robinson. Drawing on his academic background and pastoral experience, Tom also serves clergy nationwide as The Sermon Coach, helping pastors sharpen their preaching and reignite their passion for ministry. A former Army infantryman and Capitol Hill staffer, Tom brings a practical, disciplined approach to faith and leadership. He is also a skilled woodworker and small business owner, operating Creation in Wood, where he designs and builds custom furniture and interiors.
