Origami Star Mary Birnbaum My origami breath folds & unfolds round me fingers of light pointing to the next crease the neat twinning of dimension the fan of time snapping open its tiny breeze the geology of sound suspends our bones rose fascia coalesce cobweb stems all around the red paper of butterflies kisses air cluttered with the pulse of petals the most extravagant gesture the million leaves of a nova its epic a remote memory visible as a winking out a tremor I pressed this star clumsy between my fingertips
