appy hour is more like ecstatic hour at CK’s. Held 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day, revelers get 50 cents off on draft beer pints and mugs and pay $3.25 for domestic bottles. Well drinks are $3.50 and house wine is $3.75. The happy hour food menu features a variety of appetizers, a tasty adovada pizza and a full order of wings can be had for $8.99. Shift workers and night owls enjoy reverse happy hour from 9 p.m. to close Sunday through Thursday. Watch out for some really crazy customer-appreciation specials in May, when CK’s celebrates its 15th anniversary.

F
rom the bite-size bundtinis to the classic 10-inch bundt cake, Nothing Bundt Cakes has been delighting Ahwatukee sweet tooths since 2003. Owners Theresa and Rocky Rebert offer nine regular cake flavors, including red velvet, lemon and classic vanilla. Interesting specials roll out during major sweetie holidays, such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. And cakes can always be customized for birthdays, weddings, graduations and other special occasions. Many patrons just order extra frosting. The bundtlet towers wrapped in cellophane make a thoughtful gift, and the tiered bundt cake – an 8-inch cake over a 10-inch cake – will feed a crowd of 30. “The product is fantastic, the presentation is superb, and we provide good old hometown customer service,” Rocky said.

n 1994, Nelly Kohsok, Bassel Osmani and Fouad Khodr gave up their promising television photography and engineering careers and went off the beaten path to open a quirky Mediterranean-style wraps-and-salads cafe called Pita Jungle. The wildly popular local chain has grown to 20 Arizona stores and one in California. The Ahwatukee location is a popular gathering spot for happy hour, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Patrons enjoy inexpensive tapas with discounts on beer, wine, cocktails and the house margarita and sangria. In addition to the signature pitas and salads, Pita Jungle has a creative lineup of healthy mushroom, bean and fish burgers and wood-fired pizzas. If there’s room for dessert, try a sane slice of cheesecake or carrot cake.
