Clubs for Parents, Children, and Teenagers

In today’s hectic world, it is increasingly more important to find a place where we can take a break, recharge, and share your experience with others. There are several such places at the Centre of Foreigners, JMK. Children, teenagers, as well as parents with babies can find them here. In collaboration with UNICEF, the Centre offers a club for mothers with children, a coworking space for working parents, a club for teenagers, tutoring for children, but also various workshops, Czech language courses and trips. And what’s best? All of these are free of charge.
A Haven for Mothers with Small Children The Tykadla club is a unique place for mothers and fathers with children up to three years old. Parents can share their experience, participate in creative workshops,
learn something new at expert lectures and find a moment of peace during yoga classes. The club meets up every Tuesday and Thursday. In December you can look forward to a meeting with a lactation consultant, a creative candle painting workshop and a Christmas party. Tykadla also thinks about mothers who wish to pursue their professional and personal goals while keeping their babies in sight. There’s coworking every Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. It operates on the basis of mutual support, where women take turns looking after children, so that each can have at least an hour for themselves, which they can use either for work or rest.
Photography Exhibition In December you will also have the option to visit a photography exhibition called MATKY (MOTHERS). The exhibition in the foyer of the South Moravian Region depicts
ten foreign women raising their children in the Czech Republic. The women come from all over the world; Moldova, Vietnam, India, or Ukraine. The series of portraits offers an intimate look at the lives of women who, despite their different roots, share the same experience; motherhood in a foreign country.
An Inspiring Place for Youth The Youth Club is a place for teenagers aged 14 and up. The club offers a wide range of activities such as creative evenings, movie nights, or educational workshops. Meetings take place every Wednesday from 16:15 to 18:30. The Youth Club emphasizes mutual understanding, respect, and a proactive approach, which makes everyone feel welcome. On Wednesday, December 11, the Youth Club will organize a workshop on the topic How to Present Yourself and Show Your Strengths?
Support and Community All of the clubs meet at the Centre for Foreigners JMK which offers a safe place for children and adults. Mothers at the Tykadla Club have access to play mats, boxes full of toys, a nursing chair, changing station and a microwave. On the other hand, the youth at the Youth club will appreciate the modern environment with chill zones. The goal of the Centre is to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The Clubs of the Centre for Foreigners offer valuable support for families and youth in Brno. Thanks to their focus on sharing, education, and mutual support, they become an important part of the local community and they help create a space where everyone can work on themselves.
