MANCHESTER CITY LEGENDS HIT THE COSTA Not too many years ago we would all be drooling at a team that included the likes of former International footballers Andy Dibble, Colin Hendry, Asa Hartford, Peter Barnes, Uwe Rosler and Tommy Booth. We would have paid a lot of money for the privilege of seeing them line up. Well now the opportunity will cost you almost nothing, just your loose change, as they and others, will be turning out on Friday 7 June at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Torrevieja against ‘Team Skala’ , a side thought to comprise, for the most part, of Guardia Civil Officers stationed in the locality. Joe Corrigan has also been named in the squad but it is thought that he will turn out only in a managerial capacity as he continues to nurse an injury. They will be joined by Eric Nixon, Ali Pickering and Les Chapman, amongst others, who will be confirmed over the coming days for the match next Friday. Fans are also being offered the opportunity to go back to the Marinasol in Cabo Roig with the players after the game and to play golf alongside the Legends at Las Colinas Golf Course on the following day. This will be the third occasion that the team have visited the area in recent years, both previous occasions being an unlimited success. Whilst in the area they will by staying at the Marinasol where they will be delighted to meet football fans
Former Man City keeper Andy Dibble with his son Christian, who is currently at Bury
regardless of their allegiance. Many of the Legends are still very much involved in the game either as managers, coaches or media pundits so this is an opportunity that football fans here on the Costa will not want to miss. RADIO CONTROL MAR MENOR SAILING GROUP The Group, held its May race day last week due to strong winds. Racing kicked off at 15.00 hours with 9 boats attending but only 7 made it to the start line. The racing began with a moderate wind steady at between 12 to 14 Knots blowing from the North East. This gave the wind enough distance to pile up a nice swell making sailing interesting. David Atherton was the O.D. assisted by Ann Wellington and Beverly Lockwood. The level of sailing was excellent with only a few penalty turns being enforced. The course was a wind ward lee ward sausage followed by a triangle, the racing consisted of one practice race and 5 points races. The first three places went to. First boat, no. 45 helmed by Nigel Lane sailing an I.O.M. Second, no.56 helmed by Stuart Lockwood sailing an I.O.M. Third, no. 76 helmed by Keith Edgar sailing an I.O.M. followed at 4pm with everyone retiring for a well earned coffee.
