AGE: Dalton: 15 | Klaire: 12 SPECIES AND BREEDS THAT YOU SHOW: Dalton: Crossbred Steers. I have also shown Market Heifers, Shorthorn Heifers, Lambs and Swine. Klaire: Market heifers and a Maine Anjou steer. I also show horses and have shown swine. FAVORITE SHOW & WHY: Dalton: Iowa State Fair & National Western Stock Show. The Iowa State Fair because I truly feel it is one of the toughest State Fairs in the country! It is a chance to showcase the hard work that comes from all the early mornings and and late nights in the barn. I also love the atmosphere at the Iowa State Fair and being able to spend time with friends from our home state. The pavilion that the steers show in is a special place, it gives you goosebumps stepping into that building with a fat steer in August. The NWSS is also a favorite because it was my very first steer show. I showed a steer named Red out there when I was nine years old. I enjoy spending a week with our crew before moving into the show. I have been fortunate

enough to make it to the green carpet a couple of times and there is no other feeling like it! Klaire: The Iowa State Fair. It’s been our family’s vacation since before I was born. I love our fairgrounds and getting to show with friends from all over the state. I am looking forward to showing at the Royal and Denver this year as well. I also really enjoy the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds jackpot circuit. It’s fun getting to spend almost every weekend in the spring with our show family. FAVORITE SHOW MEMORY: Dalton: I have several great memories from showing cattle. Winning reserve champion steer at the 2019 Iowa State fair was amongst the top. I was also fortunate enough to be selected as champion steer at the 2020 Iowa Beef Expo and Champion Market Heifer at the 2016 Iowa State Fair. In 2019 I was the champion intermediate showman at the National Western, this is something that I will never forget. Winning the 2020 Iowa State Fair Special Edition Steer Show was one the best show experiences I’ve ever had. After

a year of so many uncertainties, it was the absolute best way to end the show season. I have been lucky enough to have some wins, however the memories that will stick with me are the friendships that I have made through this industry and the lessons that I have learned. I will always be willing to help younger showmen when needed because I will never forget those that have helped me along the way. Klaire: The 2018 Iowa Beef Expo. It was my first time showing there with my Market Heifer Jewels. I also will never forget showing for the first time at the Iowa State Fair in 2019. As my brother said, there really is something special about the Iowa State Fair and showing in the Pioneer Pavilion. I will always treasure the memories made in the show barn with my family as well. FAVORITE SHOW ANIMAL: Dalton: That one is easy, Dale!! My black and white crossbred steer that I am currently showing! He was raised and sold to us by Wade Rodgers. He’s had some medical issues that have not made him the
