AGE: Tyler 18

SPECIES AND BREEDS THAT YOU SHOW? Tyler: I mainly show Maine-Anjou, Chis and Simmentals but also tango with Angus and Shorthorns from time to time. I also show pigs and goats. ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY ASSOCIATIONS? Tyler: I’m a junior member of the Maine-Anjou, Chianina, Shorthorn and Simmental associations. I also serve on the American Junior Maine-Anjou Association Board of Directors. FAVORITE SHOW & WHY? Tyler: There are three that stick out in my mind. One of course is the best state fair in the world the Iowa State Fair, one of the most competition filled state fairs that there is to come in all species. The food there is amazing and also there is nothing like spending two weeks straight with your best friends right before school starts. The other one is the Fort Worth Stock Show. It has always held a special place in my heart from when I was first showing down there and how laid back it is. The shows start later, the weather is always nice compared to Iowa and once again the food there is unmatched (except for the ISF). The last one is OYE. I’ve never been an exhibitor there, but have fit calves there for the past 3 or 4 years and I love it because of the competitive nature! The quality of animals there is amazing! FAVORITE SHOW MEMORY? Tyler: My favorite show memory was probably my first AJMAA junior national win in 2017 in Hutchinson, Kansas with a steer that I raised. That steer was my best friend all year long and when I won I had a feeling like an electric pulse ran down the middle of back all the way to my toes and I have been chasing that feeling since then! GOOD LUCK CHARMS? Tyler: Anyone that knows me knows I wear a cowboy hat, but it always seems like my black felt hat has a little more pixie dust than the rest of them. FAVORITE SHOW BARN ACTIVITY? Tyler: Its not even a question - it’s the 4:30 dance parties in the barn! LEAST FAVORITE SHOW BARN ACTIVITY? Tyler: Feeding, I love feeding because of the way I am able to change the animal and how they look but I hate it because it is always at the very end of the day when you just want to be done and go have fun and sleep.

FAVORITE BOOK/AUTHOR? Tyler: I don’t read much but when I do it’s livestock or fishing magazines! FAVORITE MUSICIAN? Tyler: Either 21 Savage or Chief Keef FAVORITE MOVIE? Tyler: My favorite is Kingsman but a couple honorable mentions are Cars and the Man From Uncle. FAVORITE FOOD? Tyler: Sushi from a restaurant called BLUE that absolutely will make you want sushi everyday and cow tongue tacos from a gas station - both are in Fort Worth. The last one is the J.R. donuts from the Iowa State Fair! FAVORITE RESTAURANT? Tyler: A random Hibachi steakhouse in Grand Island, Nebraska that I found wanting something new to eat! ACTIVITIES YOU ENJOY OUTSIDE THE SHOWRING? Tyler: I am involved in FFA, FCA, NHS, 4-H, FBLA, Student Government, Methodist Youth Fellowship, Youth Beef Team, American Royal Agvocate, County Youth Council, Therapy Dog International, Golf, Iowa Youth Fishing League, Southwest Iowa Fishing Team, State of Iowa Youth Advisory Council, and the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association. FAVORITE QUOTE? Tyler: A champion is afraid of losing, everyone else is afraid of winning. FUTURE PLANS? Tyler: My plans are to attend Oklahoma State University to major in AgriBusiness and minor in food science. I would like to be a business owner in my future. I would like to keep Team-Tbone cattle alive and continue to sell and raise show cattle for many years to come. I would also not mind dabbling into the professional bass fishing scene for a little bit since it has always been my dream. ANYBODY YOU’D LIKE TO THANK? Tyler: Of course I would like to thank my parents for everything they have done for and with me. I would also like to thank some of my closest friends for the amazing things that they do to always keep me in good spirits and to make sure that I am always having fun. One other is Lindsey Broek and everything that she does for the AMAA and AJMAA. Wes Horn for all of the times that he may have not wanted to go and fit one but always showed up. And to Kay Hartman for always cooling Mom down in her most heated moments.
