ENTREPRENEURS
Like Elkhart County in general, the city of Goshen has a long history of embracing small businesses, early-stage companies, and local entrepreneurs.
On the second floor of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce is a small business incubator that features conference rooms and 3,000 square feet of co-working space. This area is available to individuals and groups starting their own small business ventures. With an open floor plan, abundant natural light, white board walls for creative collaboration, high-speed bier wireless internet access, a soft seating space and portable secure filing cabinets, this space is ideal for individuals who require 24/7 access to their workspace.
People can pay different amounts for different levels of membership, but all will find an innovative community of self-starters working to advance their concepts and companies in the creative hub of Goshen’s downtown. The enthusiasm evident in Goshen has spurred numerous small businesses and companies working in a variety of fields including technology, sustainability, engineering, publishing, marketing and more.
BUSINESS
While Goshen and Elkhart County are known for their recreational vehicle and manufactured home industries, Goshen is also home to a variety of small and large businesses, including computer and technology companies, engineering firms, cabinets, and furniture production, as well as other manufacturing.
Goshen’s business landscape also continues to grow with well-established industrial and business parks. With the number of colleges and universities in the area, Goshen offers a welltrained workforce with plenty of opportunities for continued training and learning.
Goshen’s location is also central to Chicago, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids and Detroit. The renovated four-lane connector, C.R. 17, runs directly from outside Goshen to U.S. 20 and the Indiana Toll Road and makes the drive from Goshen into Michigan a quick and easy one. U.S. 33 intersects the city, while another highway, U.S. 6, is just south of the city limits of Goshen.
Goshen is also a prime area for starting a new or small business. The Chamber of Commerce provides many helpful resources to new businesses, including small business counseling and the option of shared workspace.
