Meet Dr. Scharmaine Lawson, FNP

Dr. Scharmaine Lawson has been a nurse for 30 years, 18 of which as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is the author of the children’s book series, NOLA the Nurse® and Housecalls 101: The only book you will ever need to start your practice. A native of Louisiana, Dr Lawson was raised by her grandmother and has overcome many adversities in life by coming a nurse. As a nurse practitioner, Dr. Lawson started the first nurse practitioner owned Housecall practice in the State of Louisiana. In 2005, Dr. Lawson was featured on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric for the HouseCall services she continued to provide despite the mass evacuation of health care providers from Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Lawson has helped over 60 NPs jumpstart a Housecalls practice through her HouseCalls Course. Above all the success Dr. Lawson has had in media and practice, her most important accomplishment is becoming a foster mother.
