Milestone for humble Cobra By Todd Whelan Cobra’s favorite son Tyson Shea was honoured with a corridor of red, yellow and black applause ahead of his 250th game on the long weekend. Players, officials and supporters alike welcomed the 33-year-old with his two daughters, onto the field in front of a momentous banner to savour. The occasion was just the boost the playing group were after, with an all-important four premiership points at stake against a struggling Sunbury aiming to keep their season alive. The Cobras honoured the call and 'got it done' for Shea on a day that coincided with the sixth anniversary of the clubs 2016 BFNL Premiership. After leading at every change the Cobras put together their best team performance of the season to win by 51 points. The enormity of Shea's contribution was not missed by current Cobras Tom German in the post-match. "Tyson's a pleasure to coach," German said. "He had another one of his trademark games, it's a credit to how he prepares week in, week out." German said Shea had not missed a game through injury since Under 12s and remains an important asset to both the coaches and the players. Shea conceded 300 games may be a bridge too far with work and family commitments but is really enjoying his footy at the moment. "It was really special to see the 2016 Premiership team and seeing some players we haven't seen since the Premiership that brought so much joy to all at the club," The Cobras couldn't have wished for a more honest contributor despite Shea's humble reflections in the aftermath. "All I've done is given my all every time I pull on the number 14 jumper, and try to be the best player I can be to get the win," he said.
The club and the people have given me more than I have given them. - Tyson Shea "The club and the people have given me more than I have given them. "The warm messages and calls before the game was a bit overwhelming," Shea said. A satisfied and content Shea made comment on his 'pretty unique' football journey. "I've experienced the lows of 30 goal losses and wooden spoons to the high of winning a Premiership," he said. Cobras 2016 Premiership coach Travis Hodgson described Shea as "the true definition of a champion local footballer."
