An extensive Woodchop Competition runs throughout the day alongside other activities including a Pet Show, Childrens' Races, Face Painting, Treasure Hunt, a Mini Pet Circus, Gold Panning, Gumboot Throwing and Tug-O-War . There will also be karate demonstrations with participation! Food vans, the famous Cricket Club Bar, a wine & gin bar, awesome music and a huge fire cauldron for the cool evening, what more could you want? Wait, there is more ... Easter Friday 7pm at the Blackwood Hotel is the Crowning of the Blackwood Community Queen & King with live music from the very talented and very local 'Blackwood Bangers: playing Classic rhythym and Blues with a bit of Swamp Rock thown in for free. Easter Sunday at 7pm Mon's Trio play the Blackwood Hotel with RnB, rock and folk and some contemporary and original songs. Come and join us for a weekend of fun and music for all tastes, and let's not forget those flying axes!

Blackwood Recreation Reserve On Easter Saturday, along with the crack of axes, the oval will ring with the sound of music. Eleven bands will perform from 12:30 until late, featuring Country, Old-Timey, Bluegrass, Rockabilly, Irish, Traditional Scottish, Cajun and more. There may even be a bit of Soul. What we can guarantee is a cracking good time. Festivities commence at 11 am with a street parade departing from Martin St. The parade is quirky, creative and lots of fun. Arrival of the parade at the oval marks the beginning of the Carnival and Woodchop. Participation in the parade is free with prizes to be won for the Best Easter Hat, Group Theme and Decorated Bicycle, the Most Creative Float/Trailer and Most Humorous.
