Get inked … for kids By Lachlan Ellis This Good Friday, a new tattoo could come with the fuzzy feeling of helping kids in need, with a local parlour donating all their proceeds to the Good Friday Appeal. Disciples of Ink in Bacchus Marsh is running a Flash Day on Friday 15 April, with a set of pre-designed tattoos on offer, priced from $50 to $100. All funds raised on the day will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital, and the business will also accept donations if you don’t want a tattoo done. Kieran Tyrrell owns and operates Disciples of Ink, and said the idea came about from his time at previous tattoo shops. “Basically I was talking to Josh Baker who works with me… he’d done something similar where he used to work. My middle daughter has been in and out of the Royal Children’s throughout her years, so we just thought, what better way to give back?” Mr Tyrrell told the Moorabool News. “It’s fundraising kind of the best way we know how. When I was at another business we did a similar fundraiser for breast cancer, we raised around $10,000 that day.” The designs on offer are still in the works, but Mr Tyrrell said they’ll be available to see on the day. “We’re designing them at the moment, we’ll be creating a social media event and some other bits and pieces. We’ll have designs available on the our social media pages, so they can have an idea of what they’re getting into,” he said. “We’re hoping to get sheets done by several artists, so we’ll have a selection from them as an example. We’re hoping to raise a minimum of $2,000, but anything above that would be excellent.” Mr Tyrrell said they are hoping people get behind the event and support the cause. “Tattoos aren’t for everyone, if you don’t want to get ink done you can just donate. Whatever support we can get, we’ll take.” For more information and to book, visit disciplesofink.com. au, or contact Kieran on 0403 862 593.
