Hospital roof to be replaced
A local hospital will have part of their roof replaced after the State Government announced $1.2 million to be invested. The Bacchus Marsh hospital will receive a total of $1,264,000 to replace the roof between the Maternity Ward and the Theatre, to prevent water leakage and support mechanical system installation. Member for Melton, Steve McGhie, said they are delivering better health outcomes for the community with modern services and facilities, while creating local jobs. “Everyone deserves access to quality health care facilities and services close to home, that’s why we’re investing in the Bacchus
Marsh Hospital,” he said. The funding is part of $120 million under Round 5 of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF), to be shared by nearly 80 rural and regional hospitals, community health services, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. The RHIF program has now invested $490 million in over 470 regional healthcare projects across the state, and created hundreds of jobs. For more information on the RHIF, visit www.vhba.vic.gov.au and search ‘Regional Health Infrastructure Fund’.
Reading has its rewards
Thanks to Public Libraries Victoria, kids’ reading over the summer holidays won’t just have fun – they’ll also go in the running to win a prize, from a pool of almost $500. The Big Summer Read launched in Moorabool on Wednesday 1 December, and will run all the way until 31 January 2022, with $490 worth of prizes on offer. The event is open to anyone under 18, with books read over summer to be recorded by participants on the mobile app Beanstack. Once you’ve read 10 books, you enter the major prize pool, but don’t stop there – every extra book after that is another entry, and another chance to win.
Winners can receive a $200 EFTPOS gift card, one of two $50 bowling vouchers, one of two $50 movie vouchers, or one of three $30 book vouchers. There are three ways to enter: either download the Beanstack app and choose ‘Public Libraries Victoria’ under ‘School, Library or Bookstore’, register online at www.plv.beanstack.org/reader365, or visit your local library for a paper version. 48 public libraries across Victoria, including Moorabool Libraries, are inviting kids to get reading, with the goal of engaging 10,000 Victorian kids across the state. So, get reading – you’ve got to be in it to win it.
