Iconic tree storm victim A massive shady pin oak tree in Ballan has been removed. Moorabool Shire Council confirmed whilst it was very sad to see the pin oak being removed, it was too dangerous to leave. "The tree split out yesterday (Thursday 4 Nov) afternoon with the branch union full of rot, and there was a split in the branch hanging over the rotunda," a spokesperson told the Moorabool News. "Our arborist had to make the call to remove the tree due to concerns of public safety and infrastructure issues." It is believed the damaged occurred after last week’s storm. The tree was situated on the corner of Fisken and Inglis Streets at the A.A. McLean reserve.
