NANCY RONES

WRITER, “Honeymoon Trends” (p. 158)

How can couples plan a honeymoon that feels fresh and not cliché? No matter where you go, having some kind of authentic exchange with a destination will make your trip more memorable—whether that means shopping in a local market, finding a cooking class in a resident’s home off the tourist path, or volunteering in a community school. Seeing your honeymoon spot up close takes the excitement factor to a new level. @nrones

You should always prep your hair in advance, everything from perfecting your color to using deep conditioning treatments regularly. I always tell my clients the same thing: Treat your hair the same way you treat your skin and the result will be magnificent.

PHOTOGRAPHER, cover

Why were you excited to shoot this cover for The Knot? I love that wedding dress designers are basically reinventing the wheel season after season. It’s always fun to see how they put a fresh twist on their gowns. I was excited there were some nontraditional dresses in the mix. It was great to go in to the shoot knowing the team had already picked all of the wedding dresses and tuxes—they worked perfectly together. @roberttrachtenberg

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

@oscarblandisalonnyc

I found inspiration through paintings created by Agnolo Bronzino and other artists of the time who captured that quiet elegance of women from the Renaissance period. I wanted to use mostly natural or soft lighting to help convey the right mood for our images. @lizvonhoene

CLARE OWEN

ILLUSTRATOR, “20 Things We’re Loving Right Now” (p. 246) and “The Best Style Tips From Pros” (p. 256)

What wedding details do you love illustrating most? Illustrations are such an amazing way to add personality to paper goods. They help the products to really stand out from the crowd. I particularly love doing food illustrations. Menus, cookbooks and food packaging are some of my favorite kinds of work. Probably because they combine the two things I love the most—drawing and eating! @clarelowen

What’s your favorite part about working at The Knot? I love being at the forefront of wedding trends and seeing how one idea or theme evolves—and how every couple makes it their own. With more unique venues, more brands expanding their monogramming opportunities (think: “marry me” scripted on your favorite sneakers) and more communication when choosing the engagement ring, the sky’s the limit. @ivyjacobson
