editor’s letter ‘There’s no place like home!’
While this sentiment is best attributed to Dorothy in the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz, it is one that resonates with all of us … whether you are inhabiting a glamourous mansion like Jay Gatsby (see our Leonardo DiCaprio feature on page 16) or a luxury tent in Kenya (as Cove Travel’s Susan Mallinson did on a recent visit). While the Cove magazine can be found in all corners of the globe, ‘home’ for us is The Marine Village Sanctuary Cove. With its gorgeous marina and relaxed atmosphere, it’s a very special place to live, work and play. Alyssa Bates shares her ‘Everest’ experiences in our Well Travelled section and we also profile the Pink Polar Expedition, a treacherous crossing of the Antarctic which Gold Coast vet Geoff Wilson will undertake in November. Inspired by fellow Gold Coaster and breast cancer survivor, Kate Carlyle, Geoff will be pulling a specially-designed ‘boob sled’ and hopes to raise $1 milllion for the McGrath Foundation.
