Recipients Cristin Valdez is pursuing an Associate of Applied of this award display determination and creativity, all Science in Medical Assistantintelligence, Management. of which are assets in achieving personal and professional goals. “My parents were never given a shot at having an education. They were never given a shot to show their full potential and make a difference in the world. On the other hand, I always wanted to be someone in life. To show all my potential and to make a difference in the world. I was also afraid of attending college, because of my age and felt I couldn’t make it. But I did well each semesters and kept my GPA higher than 3.0 I realize age is nothing but a number, and dreams do come true no matter how old you may be or how many children you have. So I put in my mind if I could do it you can too!”

This scholarship is one more opportunity to become a better person than I was yesterday. I’m proud I have risen to the challenges of college and connected with such an amazing community. I am grateful for all the people who have been willing to share their light, trusting it wouldn’t be simply lost within me. And it hasn’t been. My goal is to complete my B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. After I do, I plan to brightly shine the light I’ve been given on others and continue becoming my best me.”
