Director's Note: Just Keep Swimming

“When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do? Just keep swimming!” Dory’s most memorable line, spoken to Nemo’s Father Marlin has a message for us all. You never know what life is going to hand you. It can change in an instant. Don’t look back, look forward, and above all – keep going.

Parents and kids alike face so many challenges in today’s world. Gun and school violence, climate change, drug addiction, child abductions, bullying, anxiety and depression that could lead to suicide…..Remember, you can always talk to someone.

I worry about my children and my grandchildren. I sometimes wish we could go back to the times of no social media, cell phones and computers, and enjoy playing games, being outside and having great conversations face to face with family and friends. We now live in a world where we have all but lost the connection of in person communication, and instead rely on a few words on a screen.

Take this next hour and put aside all the problems you are dealing with, immerse yourself in the story and message of Nemo and his friends, and let the lesson sink in….”Just keep swimming!”
