Diana de Avila
Diana de Avila is an autodidact polymath and artist whose work bridges the realms of science, mathematics, and emotion, creating a dialogue between the natural, the conceptual, and the deeply personal. Her artistic journey began in 2017 after developing acquired savant syndrome and synesthesia following multiple sclerosis and a traumatic brain injury. These rare neurological phenomena reshaped her perception, unlocking an intuitive approach to creation that merges intricate structure with raw emotional depth. Her work spans fractals, quantum geometry, chaos theory, and conceptual art, exploring the tension between order and entropy, precision and imperfection. What began as a purely mathematical pursuit has expanded into a deeply introspective body of work, where themes of identity, trauma, and transformation take center stage. Her latest series, Sundered Self – A Journey Through Fracture and Reclamation, marks a shift toward highly conceptual, emotionally driven work, using stark black-and-white compositions to explore dissociation, resilience, and the fragmentation of self. A participant in the Techspressionism movement, De Avila embraces technology as an extension of her creative mind, weaving digital tools into her practice as both medium and collaborator. With over 2,000 works, including immersive augmented reality experiences and large-scale installations at locations such as Reagan National Airport, her art transforms spaces into explorations of form, memory, and emotion. Through her work, De Avila invites viewers to step beyond the surface—into a world where science, abstraction, and the deeply personal converge, revealing the profound beauty within both precision and chaos.
