Jaymie Paternoster is a woman of deep faith who has a love for her family and a commitment to conduct and operate her business with absolute integrity and genuine communication.

As the owner of House Call Home Inspection, Jaymie wears many hats to get the job done. While she is also an inspector, an inspector trainer, the communications director and the accountant, she will affectionately refer to herself as a software guru, a micromanager and social butterfly. She runs her business with her husband, Brandon, who is an incredible visionary and coach. Together they use their strengths and complement one another with divided responsibilities. “Brandon makes sure our team is successful and accountable,” Jaymie shared. “He keeps us educated and manages our services and equipment while I am passionate about training our home inspectors in technology and the importance of communication.”

Jaymie’s journey to where she is today is amazing. She has an associate’s degree in architectural technology and a bachelor’s degree in facility management. After she landed her first job as a facility designer in Manhattan, New York, she decided to attend graduate school at New York University where she earned her master’s degree in speech and interpersonal communication.

In 2006 — one year after Hurricane Katrina — there was a massive need for building renovations in New Orleans. With the abundance of work in her industry, Jaymie decided to move south to continue the pursuit of her career. After years of dating long-distance, Brandon decided to join Jaymie in New Orleans as well. It was there they established the foundation for their relationship. They found a common leadership role within their church and a shared vision for their future as a couple and as business partners.

The two started a photo booth company and immediately became hooked on entrepreneurship. “What started out as a hobby for some extra ‘fun’ money quickly turned to the realization of how well we worked together,” Jaymie recalled. “After that, we really started to build our business and our confidence as business owners.”

After Jaymie became a licensed home inspector in 2010, she began working with House Call as a home inspector. “I was hired by the owner in New Orleans,” Jaymie said. “We were a team of 10, and it really felt like family.” After three years of learning the business, Jaymie and her husband sold their photo booth business and purchased a House Call franchise to be set up in Indiana to be closer to Jaymie’s hometown. This was the first franchise for the company to open north of the Mississippi. Their business was growing and so was their family — while all this was happening, the couple learned they would soon be parents. Within a year, Jaymie was awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the local Woman’s Council of REALTORS®.

In 2018, Jaymie launched House Call in the Detroit area. “This is where my husband is from and we truly missed living in a larger city,” Jaymie said. “We love building a business by building genuine relationships — Detroit is a great city to make that happen!” During the first two years in Detroit, the company doubled their business. “Best of all, after 10 years in the industry our work is still fun and rewarding,” she said.

The team focus is centered around several basic principles that have made them successful: empowering their clients with knowledge and working with integrity while creating peace-of-mind through education; creating an unparalleled environment that attracts top talent and fun partners; prioritizing God, family and business — in that order; sharing daily gratitude and thanksgiving; encouraging health in spirit, mind and body in an energized environment; accountability in each other’s families, education and personal growth; and following the Golden Rule through collaboration, client service and partner relationships.

The company offers almost any service a person would need to know regarding how their home functions. “Small changes in our industry will always ruffle a few feathers or make most business owners stand up a little straighter,” Jaymie explained. “But you know how we thrive; communication, friendly demeanor, a humble disposition and ongoing availability to our clients — we don’t complicate it.”

Because home inspections are a crucial part of the purchase and clients rely on inspection companies for valuable information during the decision-making process, Jaymie believes the experience doesn’t need to be scary or overwhelming. “We conduct all our services with joy and enthusiasm,” Jaymie said. “We believe that 50% of our job is to inform clients about safety issues and maintenance, and the other 50% is to communicate that information in a way that our clients understand.”

To empower their clients, Jaymie’s teams are trained to teach their clients what they know, so they feel confident and educated to make the best decisions possible. “When we know something, we educate our clients, so they can move forward with knowledge and confidence,” Jaymie shared. “Isn’t that why we were created? To help others?”

Jaymie and her husband, Brandon, have been married for 10 years and have three children — Isaiah, 6, Josephine, 3, and Eve, 2 months. As a family, they enjoy everything outdoors: camping, campfires, walks in the woods and playing in the water.

House Call is a franchise based in New Orleans and offers traditional home inspections, termite inspections, sewer scope, radon testing, air quality and mold testing, thermal imaging, and water lead and bacteria testing.

Jaymie has received Strategic Partner of the Year from LakePointe Women’s Council of REALTORS®, Volunteer of the Year from Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®, Franchise of the Year from the corporate office of House Call and Affiliate Regent from the Macomb chapter of the Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®.

“If I can pour positivity into people’s lives, have a solid marriage, raise kind children and sleep with a good conscience at night, then I’ve been successful,” Jaymie concluded.
