BECOME A REFEREE How old do I have to be? To be a certified referee with the United States Soccer Federation (“USSF”), you must be 13 years of age or younger at the time of creating an account. Younger than 13? A few of our clubs run in-house/recreational programs where we run training outside of the USSF training curriculum. This would be a great opportunity to be involved in a lowpressure environment AND make money doing it. //////////////////////////////////

Don’t wait weeks to be paid. When you work for MAT Assigning, you will be paid quick and hassle free. We have partnered with an assigning platform, Notch, that is easy-to-use and more importantly, will pay you faster than ever before! • Work a game, submit a game report, assigning staff approves it, funds are then transferred to your digital wallet. • See your balance accumulate for your hard work, or withdraw funds frequently.

Referees earn between $30 and $85 per game!

How much does it cost to become a referee?

• The cost to certify is $60. • If you’re 18 or older, you must do an annual background check ($30). • A referee starter kit (uniform, whistle, cards, flags) costs between $60 and $70. • Many clubs have incentives for working their club matches and in return, receive reimbursement for the above costs.

I'm new. What games will I officiate?

It’s our job as assignors to match you up with an appropriate game. Our assigning philosophy involves considering: age, level of game, position (Center or AR), years of experience.

How do I receive game assignments?

There are many ways that you can work matches, once certified: • Update availability and our assigning staff will assign you games based on that; • Request matches that are open to be assigned to you; • Self-assign matches, dependent on the age/ level of the game. • Respond to messages from us when there are open games.

How long is my certification good for?

All referees must be certified annually, and your certification is good on an annual basis, from January to December. The re-certification (after you’ve been certified) can be done entirely online.

We assign matches all year long! Whether you're brand new, or have years of experience, we commit to being a resource you can trust:

• We will always respond to you, whether by phone or email. • We will be a resource for you about the certification process, how to receive game assignments, or anything else, at any time. • We will only assign games to you that fit with your abilities and comfort level. • We will sponsor educational events (on-field, Zoom, etc.) to support your development as an official. 2024 leagues/club/Events Competition/Club
