TWO operates two historic theatres in downtown Owensboro, producing an eclectic season of community theatre, featuring contemporary and classic plays and musicals while maintaining a busy schedule of concerts, art exhibits, classes and workshops. OMFA also houses a Regional Art Market that offers works for sale by artists and craftsmen from Kentucky and surrounding states. RIVERARTES
RIVERARTES, an outdoor sculpture project showcased in Owensboro’s Riverfront Development is managed by the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art for the City of Owensboro. The newest sculpture, entitled “Lincoln,” is a lifesize bronze depicting the sixteenth president of the United States sitting on a park bench with top hat in hand was sculpted by Mark Lundeen of Loveland, Colorado. The previous 10 works of art are valued at more than $300,000 and have been acquired by the art museum for Owensboro’s public art collection and installed in the downtown area.
DOWNTOWN MURALS
The blue Owensboro mural on the side of the Convention and Visitors Bureau building is perfect for selfies. Just across from it is the Kentucky Mirror Mosaic, which received a facelift in 2021. An antiviolence mural can be found at Third and Allen Street, which was commissioned by a local nonprofit. And a mural to celebrate Black history can be found at Kendall Perkins Park. O
