Welcome Hi everyone! Hope this finds you all happy, healthy and full of optimism for 2019. This year we lost a good Charolais friend and mentor, Don Pochylco. He has been a fixture at our sale for many years and cooked us all ‘the best god damn beef in the world!’ We will miss his company. Our roster of herd sires is pretty much the same as last year with a couple of new additions. We are confident their progeny will ALSO go out, work hard as sires in your herd and give us maternal strengths for our future herd growth as well. Many of the pedigrees in our herd crisscross from top to bottom. We hope this provides our customers with reliable performance genetics. Most of this offering is moderate framed with wide toplines and thick quarter, something these profile pictures don’t capture, especially at only 11 months old. Some of you have shown interest in us having online access to the sale, so we’re giving it a try! Be aware, these guys sure grow and change after their picture. So please come and check them out in person or stop by the farm if you can’t make the sale. These bulls were on a balanced ration of minerals, barley silage, our own rolled grain and supplements from weaning on. Pasture conditions were tough this year and no extra oats, therefore no free choice hay in the pen or early grain introduction in August. They are growing well but will have a leaner look to them on sale day! And as always, we want to thank all our customers past, present and future for your interest in our cattle. From the desk at T Bar... Welcome to the Fourteenth Annual HEJ Charolais Bull Sale on February 22 at the Innisfail Auction Mart, Innisfail, Alberta. The last Friday in February has been a tradition in the Charolais industry as the Rasmussen’s offer their 2018 sire group to the livestock nation. The HEJ Sale is a great event where we see producers only once a year, every year…sale day! This program will rank among the highest in the breed for repeat customer trade. Why? These bulls work! Developed on a high roughage growing ration, the bulls are sound, fertile and carry bred-in longevity. Performance is taken for granted at HEJ but one should visit the farm in summer months and see this great broody cow herd on pasture with big calves at foot, then you will know why these ranchers keep coming back year after year! The fourteenth offering is powerful and diverse. As you read this catalogue you will find that Henrik uses walking bulls, each with a trait purpose based on the sire’s mother. Many of the cows in the herd carry some dimension of red influence and you will find that influence in some of the bulls offered. The cross-section of the offering includes white, red and one black bull. There are performance bulls for those who want to add pounds at weaning, calving ease bulls for those who like their sleep and bulls that will fit both pastures. Where to start…Fire n’ Ice is a thick, free moving bull with tonnes of length. He has tremendous muscle expression. He is clean sheathed and smooth shouldered and has been described as a chunk! We have been watching this guy grow all summer and fall and now as sale day approaches, we are wondering why we are selling him and not keeping him for ourselves. The Landmark-Legend cross combines calving ease with performance, as you can see in his EPDs. He is in the top 10% of the breed for BW, WW and YW and the top 15% for milk. With an 88 lb. birth weight out of a first calf heifer dam, LAE Diamante 612D, did an exceptional job raising him, to a weaning weight of 895 lbs. and has bred back for mid-January. After weaning he has continued to grow and has a January 6 weight of 1440 lbs.

We partnered on this bull with Charmain Ranching. He is an own son of LT Rushmore 8060 PLD and, of course, an LT Brenda dam (always a good producer). He was Steve’s pick of the bull pen and his pick of dams. He has added the length and frame we were looking for. We admire his general stature and foot size. And, he is, one of the top docile bulls we have had on the farm. Our first females calving, they are looking good with excellent udders.

He has a white star, but in 2018 we had a significantly larger amount of heifer calves vs bull calves, so this combined with the potential we already saw in him at birth we kept him whole to keep our options open and boy are we glad we did. He has the typical laid-back attitude, lots of performance and a clean sheath. He was above average for weaning and yearling weight and milk. Don’t let that birth weight scare you either, he is out of a large cow family. He is a tan Rushmore bull that may have stayed in our herd if it wasn’t for that star!

One of the youngest bulls of the sale, Flywheel is no slouch. At just over 10 months he weighed in at 1050 lbs. He is long and thick and always at the feed bunk. The Rushmore daughters are just starting to calve and they have beautiful udders, with excellent attachment and nice teat size.

Only one Chester son this year. As a new sire for us in 2016, we hung back the second year just to analyze the offspring. We are sorry we did that, it was one of our best group of bull calves and his daughters are calving easy with excellent udders. Federal is a typical Chester son. He has lots of hair and tidy sheath and a WIDE topline. A calving ease bull with lots of growth and performance. His dam has a very nice udder, which is very typical of the El Lanzo daughters. Chester is from a Round Up son and a Round Up dam., an accidental line breeding that worked. He was used AI on the heifers. The progeny is easy to spot in the pen, he puts lots of guts and thickness into them, as did his sire. The first females from him are calving now and they have nice little udders. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder... no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision on all disputes will be final. Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures. Breederâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer.
