Welcome to the Ramsay’s 10th Annual Sale! 10 years ago Cal & Marilyn only had 1 grandchild & we were planning a wedding for July! The New Orleans Saints won their first SuperBowl (Dalynn’s favorite team) & the Saskatchewan Roughriders lost in the Grey Cup to Calgary by 1 point! Our Roughneck (9P) bull was king of the ranch! It’s amazing to watch how our program has grown, developed & produced in these past 10 years. In the first sale we had 12 bulls to offer you - 10 years later, we are proud to bring you our best 43 sale bulls. We have worked hard to staying true to what we believe in & produce both hard working, solid females to lay a strong foundation to produce long lasting bulls that you can be proud to own. The bulls spent the summer in a rough, coulée pasture & then came closer to home in our south pasture where they’ve had to walk down to a creek for water. By giving the bulls lots of room to graze & tough terrain to walk & muscle up on we can confidently say they are ready to work. We started pail feeding them brown Oats & hay in the middle of September & have added corn silage to their diet the beginning of December. They will live in the creek pasture until sale day, these bulls have had no barley or pellets. The bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale and like always, their feet have never been touched. We want the bulls to be in a condition, ready to breed tomorrow - how we would like to buy bulls. We stand true to our word and back our bulls, if you’re not happy - we aren’t happy. Welcome to our families 10th annual bull sale. Thank you for your support and for trusting in our genetics. We enjoy the cattle business and it brings us great joy to visit customers, see the cattle working, help at brandings or roundups, or just have coffee. Our door is always open and there is always time to tour the cowherd. We are bringing a group of 6 bulls to the sale that we are confident will work for you. Our goal is to raise bulls that work for years, are easy fleshing, full of hair, will leave daughters that we are all proud of and steers that will make you money! The bulls will all be semen tested prior to the sale, vaccinated and no feet have been touched. They are fed a balanced oat based pellet ration along with high quality hay. Half of these bulls can confidently be bred to heifers. Our children and ourselves work with the bulls daily and they are very quiet and safe for your family. We are also offering our strongest 10 black baldy and brockle faced open replacement heifers. These heifers are sired by great proven herd sires! This past year our oldest son Ramsay expressed an interest in showing cattle and convinced us through his hard work to help get him to a few shows. He showed His cow calf pair at 6 shows and they were champion or reserve champion cow/calf in 5/6 of them! Finishing the season with Champion Hereford Cow/Calf and Reserve Champion Hereford Female at Farmfair in Edmonton, thanks to his Papa Cal for taking him and making those memories possible. He has set his new goal to make it to Agribition next year, anything is possible! Throughout the summer Randy and the boys kept busy building custom fence and cooking and cutting meat for various events. Now he is busy coaching hockey and feeding cows for the winter. Robin began working for the North Saskatchewan River Basin Council, and enjoys helping Randy with catering and some photography. ‘Harv’ has been an extremely constant herd sire for us. We are so excited and thankful to be in our 10th year as a guest consignor at the Carlrams Ranching Bull Sale. A big thank you to Cal and Marilyn for asking us to join in with them on this great adventure. It is always a wonderful day to be surrounded by so many great cattlemen and we get to sell some bulls at the same time. It was a trying year at the farm in 2018. The snow stayed too long into the spring and came too early in the fall. Thankfully it cleared up in October-November and neighbors got most of their crops off. December was a saving grace for us and the cows were content grazing until boxing day. After weaning, the bulls were carried through the winter on self feed grass hay and supplemented with a pellet ration. They spent all summer on grass and came in from the pasture the end of August to be pail fed a 13% protein pellet with self feed grass hay. They have been vaccinated and ivomeced and have free choice mineral. They will be semen tested prior to the sale. They can be kept free of charge until April 1st when we start to deliver.
