From a small plan by Merv Schmidt (Belmont Charolais) thirteen years ago, “Best of the Breeds” has become a supply centre for five breeds and a “must attend” source for genetic quality... this fact is proven by the demand of many repeat customers over the past twelve years. At the onset, the plan was to supply local area livestock producers; but the plan altered, as customers have selected bulls nationwide! This group of breeders come together with one common goal.... produce and supply the finest genetics possible for their customers to profit by. The mix of breeds is ideal as they are the tools for successful cross-breeding. The powerful performance of the continental breeds mated to the British breed with high maternal and calving traits is the ideal combination for the producer, the sale barn, the packer and Mrs. Consumer. After touring the herds, we are excited about this powerful yet diverse offering of sires. Several breeder quality bulls will headline this event in addition to a strong group of ranch bulls with hair, shape and testicles.... ready to get the job done. From our family to yours; welcome to the 13th Annual “Best of the Breeds” bull sale. Thank you to all previous buyers and bidders for your interest in the Twin Heritage Farms program. It seems as though it were only weeks ago that we were preparing for last year’s sale catalogue! My how time flies! Looking towards our sale on March 26, we are excited with what we have on offer. The bull pen is consistent and there are a few gems to take note of as they have the genetic and maternal backing to be game changers. Our offering is catalogued by herdsire grouping and we have sons off our Hustle 13X and Soldier 41Z bulls. Hustle 13X is no longer with us, but has left us with many sale toppers and some exceptional females on the farm. The two sons in the sale will be the last natural service sons and they are both worthy for breeder bull consideration. The Soldier 41Z sons are a strong group with the typical Soldier dark red color and a solid dark foot. We are extremely eager to introduce the first set of sons from our $25,000 junior herdsire, Trigger 80B. They are a dandy bunch being very consistent in type showing thickness, wide base, good temperament, and excellent scrotal development.

We thought it was appropriate to lead off this year’s catalogue with a couple herdsire prospects from Hustle 13X. The old guy is no longer with us, but he has outbred himself a few times over and his sons in the sale this year are no exception. Hustle 29D is a performance leader. He is long sided, deep quartered, and smooth fronted. His dam is from the heart of the SSS herd and is a herd bull producer. Take a good look at this guy sale day as he is one to take note of. Not only is she a perfectly uddered and Elite Cow, she is the dam of the high seller a few years back to Ter-Ron Farms. Hustle 39D happens to be a full sibling to the 25A bull that has bred well for Ter-Ron siring some of the high selling bulls and the high selling heifer in their sale last year. His birthweight is a little higher, being three days overdue, but his dam has averaged 89 pounds on four bull calves and 78 pounds on five heifers. We retained a full sibling heifer (KTH 9C) in the herd and she calved this year with a picture-perfect udder. If you are looking for predictable and proven genetics with a maternal base to build a herd around, Hustle 39D could be your bull. Powerful performance sons and broody, angular, good uddered daughters should be in his future. Retaining 1/3 semen interest.

MTH 16D is the only son on offer from our high selling Hustle 53B bull to Welsh Prairie Red Angus a few years ago. We were fortunate to use him on a heifer early on before delivering him to WPRA. MTH 3D leads off our Trigger 80B offering. We purchased 80B from Ter-Ron Farms a few years ago where he was one of the high selling bulls at $25,000. It was a big purchase for us and we like how he has bred with his first set of calves. Hustle 3D is backed by the popular Owyhee cow family from Chickadee Farms. She is a good uddered broody female that breeds back early each year. 3D is a long sided wide based bull with excellent scrotal development. He should leave some excellent replacement females and thick steers.

With an index of 119, this bull was the number one indexing bull on feed. Some folks may shy away from his 106 pound birth weight, however his dam, Goldie 123A had a 73 pound bull in the sale last year that was one heck of a calf and she had a 77 pound heifer this year. She is a model Angus cow and backed by the calving ease sire Feddes Big Sky. We bought a few straws of semen on Red Lazy MC Kingman 16W and used him on a few of our top cows. Kingman 18D is one of the results and he is a good one. 18D is a moderate wide based bull that packs some punch. He is well muscled and thick, thick, thick with a strong quarter and excellent scrotal development.

Terms and Conditions
Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. In the case of a dispute, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final. Announcements: All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.
Breeder’s Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais, Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh Associations. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made. Health: All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made here under.
