On behalf of the 10th Senate District, I would like to welcome you to San Jose. The Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) promotes an understanding and appreciation of Africa and Africans through moving images and, crucially, provides audiences with exquisite lenses to the real Africa.

The festival has built a substantial following and become an annual destination film event in Silicon Valley that draws an international following of distinguished transcontinental visitors, Silicon Valley high tech executives, cinema buffs, academics, civic officials and diverse community supporters.

I would like to congratulate SVAFF’s organizers for its 13 successful years. I hope you enjoy your experience at the festival.
